I’m a centrist democrat but the uncomfortable truth I have realized this election cycle is that while democratic socialist candidates are willing to give the fight even if they are wrong, many centrist candidates are quite toothless.
What does a man have to do to see a centrist candidate say that Trump is the personification of blatant corruption, that the DSA is anti-America, and that they will fight to the end to keep them out of power while making American lives easier?
Yet all I see are centrists being scared of attracting controversy in the middle of a political campaign. 🫠

In a democracy, every movement has the right to organize, advocate for its beliefs, and run candidates under its own party flag. That’s how our system works.
But don’t use the Democratic Party’s infrastructure to win elections only to turn around and destroy the very coalition that made those victories possible.
Build your own movement. Make your case to voters. That’s democracy.

🇵🇷 “For 128 years of U.S. rule, Puerto Rico has been a colony”
Darializa Avila Chevalier, the Democratic nominee for Congress in New York’s 13th District, marked the 128th anniversary of the July 25, 1898 U.S. invasion of Puerto Rico by calling for an end to American colonial rule and declaring her support for the island’s independence.
U.S. troops landed at Guánica during the Spanish-American War, and Spain ceded the island under the Treaty of Paris without any input from Puerto Ricans. In 1900 the Foraker Act established that Puerto Rico “belongs to the United States, but is not the United States, nor a part of the United States,” a formula that has defined its status ever since. Congress imposed U.S. citizenship in 1917, months before Puerto Ricans were drafted into World War I, yet residents still cannot vote for president and have no voting representation in Congress.
Avila Chevalier pointed to widespread poverty, recurring blackouts, the federal response to Hurricane Maria and the unelected fiscal oversight board known as La Junta, which was imposed by Congress in 2016 to restructure the island’s debt and holds power over its budget above the elected government.
“I also support independence for the Puerto Rican people,” she said. “Because after 128 years, it’s the least the people on the island deserve.”

Objectively, US aid to Ukrainian defense has been one of the best decisions for American national security in many decades.
The United States got the opportunity to seriously diminish a major near-peer adversary at no cost for US troops while investing in our supply chain and disposing old equipment stockpiles. A rare win-win scenario for American security while also helping a good cause.

He has been sent abroad to multiple diplomatic missions across the world to either advocate for a sanction relief agenda or solve regulatory/financial issues for the Rodriguez brothers. He’s the utility player in the Delcy and Jorge Rodriguez operation.
