I am genuinely furious right now!!!!!! 😠 I just found out that AGAIN someone cloned my @owndotpage landing page exactly 1:1 - including the design, copy, real images, and even content from my users. They also copied the Explore page, including scraping and reproducing pages and content created by MY USERS. I find this HIGHLY UNETHICAL. There is a huge difference between taking inspiration from someone’s work and straight-up copying - sorry, stealing - their work and publicly available user content. I’m in a very saturated market. I have a lot of competitors, and of course we all look at what others are doing and get inspired by each other. But you still bring your own design, perspective, ideas, and vision to the table. Copying someone’s landing page, product, content, and user-generated material 1:1 is not inspiration. It’s lazy, unethical, and honestly incredibly disappointing. I know who did it. And if you’re reading this: you know exactly what you copied. Not cool!!!! This is also exactly why I understand more and more why some people in the build-in-public community eventually stop sharing what they’re working on. Sharing openly should inspire people to build better things - not make it easier for someone to clone your work...
