This Administration, with the President’s focus on common sense deregulation, energy dominance, and onshoring supply chains, was uniquely positioned, and had the political appetite and ability, to take on the seemingly intractable problems across the nuclear supply chain that no one had dared tackle before. The President’s executive orders were ambitious in scope and urgency, adopting a whole-of-government approach to restore a functional civilian nuclear industry from near complete atrophy like only this Administration could, empowering agency officials to do what needed to be done at all levels. The Reactor Pilot Program is just one example of this effort’s success. It was an honor and a privilege to serve alongside the talented people across the government who worked to draft those executive orders and to implement them, and I’m cheering on the many dedicated individuals who are still in the government continuing to make extraordinary progress every day. Also thrilled that our private sector has risen to the occasion and looking forward to seeing what they do next. More to come! The President’s May 2025 executive orders on nuclear energy directed the creation of a comprehensive strategy for a seemingly intractable problem - nuclear waste reprocessing, recycling and disposal. Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses will answer that call, supporting domestic reindustrialization, reducing our reliance on foreign fuel, and creating thousands of jobs.
