NEW from @nytimes: Trump could ask Xi Jinping next week to broker a meeting with Kim Jong-un of North Korea, whom Trump has been courting over the summer. Xi doesn't want stronger US-North Korea ties, but might do Trump a favor for leverage. Kim isn't returning Trump's love yet.

Rubio is joking here, but it would be an appropriate plot twist if the 77-year-old NATO alliance dissolves in Ankara this week because of the Trump-Infantino call and the US-Belgium match tonight.
Rubio on Balogun: “Maybe [it’s] turning into an international incident, I don’t know. Maybe we’ll bring it up at NATO tomorrow with the Belgians and everybody else...”
