Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, on Iran, American strength and Western economic alliances 🇺🇸 “Iran having a nuclear weapon may be the biggest threat facing mankind, because if they have it, so will Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, South Korea, Philippines, Japan, Australia… and then I don’t know how to stop real proliferation at that point. We must maintain the strongest military in the world. That is the best protection against anything you see today or that you don’t see today. And foundational to that is the best economy in the world. They’ve got to go hand-in-hand. If you want to keep the dollar as the reserve currency, if we’re not the preeminent military and the preeminent economy in the world in 30 years, we will not be the preeminent reserve currency. Economic allies are critical. We have a huge, huge common interest. We have a common value system and common interests. We should protect each other. We should go to Europe and say, ‘If you do the right things, we’ll give you one big, beautiful free-trade deal.’ They’re struggling. They’re literally slowly walking off a cliff over time, and they need our help. I want to keep it together. I’d like to make those economic ties stronger, not weaker.”

Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, on taxes driving businesses and workers out of New York 🇺🇸 “We had 35,000 in New York City, and now it’s 26,000. We had 12,000 in Texas, and now it’s 33,000. That is because of individual taxes, corporate taxes, state taxes… but also the schools in Dallas have become very good. The life in Dallas… it’s pro-business, and people are living there. I grew up in New York City. In the ’70s, 120 of the Fortune 500 were in New York City. In those 10 years, about half left, failed, or merged out—mostly because of things like taxes and crime. People want to pay fair taxes. That’s not the point. But once you overdo it, people leave.

Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, on whether China is beating America 🇺🇸 “That’s a real stretch. China has a $15,000 per-person GDP. The U.S. is $85,000, with the most dynamic economy and prosperous the world has ever seen. We have 40 military alliances, 140 economic alliances. They have one. They’ve done a great job in so many things, but they still import 10 million barrels of oil a day. Are they going to be the best economic or military alliance for a lot of people out there who are mad at America? Probably not. So, you know, I’d take a deep breath on that one.”
