For years I’ve wondered why we even pay sales tax when we eat at a restaurant. Eating shouldn’t be taxed. On top of that, having to leave a tip is pretty unreasonable too.
Say lunch is $50. I shouldn’t have to add $7 in sales tax and another $10 for the tip. That’s at least $67 for one meal. For that money I can go to the supermarket and get beef, lamb, chicken, pork, shrimp, salmon — even lobster — plus fruit and vegetables. That’s enough food for a week. So why would I eat out?
That’s why sit-down restaurants struggle while fast-food places do fine. Then Americans eat more burgers, drink more soda, get heavier, medical bills go up, and we get taxed even more. It’s a vicious cycle.

@SteveHiltonx. He wants to scrap the restaurant sales tax so restaurants can do better, and so people actually feel like they can walk in and sit down without getting hit with extra charges.
