It's a breathtaking case of willful ignorance that
@samwestrop would be saying in 2026 that "ordinary Muslims could be allies in the fight." We have been down this road before, but it looks as if experience has taught some people nothing.
Does Sam Westrop not realize that since September 11, 2001 and before that, people like him have been saying "ordinary Muslims are our allies" and "moderate Muslims need to step up," and yet they've never stepped up, and there is not now and has never been any significant, large-scale movement of Muslim moderates fighting against terrorism?
The most famous "moderates" on the scene today have minuscule followings, if any, among Muslims, and that's easy to understand: these "moderates" represent no traditional or mainstream understanding of Islam, and thus do not appeal to most "ordinary Muslims."
Moreover, there has never been in the entire history of Islam any movement against jihad violence and Sharia oppression of women and others.
How long are we going to keep pretending? All that the moderate Muslims accomplish today is to foster complacency among non-Muslims, so that they think that the threat of jihad and Sharia is not as large as it really is, and/or that "moderate Muslims" will handle their lethal brethren, and so all is well. The whole modern moderate Muslim enterprise, therefore, has only had the effect of enabling the advance of the global jihad.
