An industry source in Korea’s glass substrate sector said, “In Korea, companies are taking a long time to build production lines because they want to validate each process—from glass cleaning in the pretreatment stage to machining, metallization, and CMP—before committing to investment. China, meanwhile, is installing equipment first, making products, and submitting them to customers for evaluation. In terms of commercialization speed alone, China is ahead of Korea.” The source added, “Korea and China are currently at roughly the same technological level in glass substrates.
