Our @xprize Special comes out tomorrow (Thursday)! Featuring @j_n_justice , @PeterDiamandis and 8 finalist teams. Out on The Beyond Tomorrow Podcast!
Just back from hosting the XPRIZE $101 Million Healthspan Finalists Awards* and here are my thoughts on a 2026 highlight: 1. The @xprize judges selected an incredible line up of startups that really demonstrated what it'll take to add 10-20+ years of healthy lifespan to everyone's life. To get to that goal, the needle has to be considerably moved so it was great to see gene therapy, iPSC, and galectin-3 inhibition teams all making the top 10! 2. The sheer diversity of focus areas of the teams is exciting but it seems that most will eventually move towards a multimodal approach (caveat, some are very confident their approach will individually win). What that means is combining focus areas together. For example NYC Vita, a group of investigators from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai have taken an approach of combining low-dose rapamycin, spermidine supplementation and structured HIIT & resistance exercise. More on rapamycin from Miriam Merad, in our Xprize special. We will likely see a lot of cross-collaboration as well and partnerships forming between finalists. Will we see a gene therapy startup partner up with nutraceuticals startup? Or possibly a research institution partnering with listed company or AgelessRx which has the scale. 4. @PeterDiamandis is right when he talks about the importance of competition in galvanizing teams to create stretch goals for themselves. Many of the teams would not have pushed themselves to get into trials if it wasn’t for XPrize's criteria. There are some in the longevity space that say there needs to be a Manhattan Project effort to address aging, and I believe this XPrize can be that or a catalyst for it. Excited to be releasing a 2 hour Xprize special on The Beyond Tomorrow Podcast next week featuring @j_n_justice, Peter Diamandis and 8 of the finalists, including Bruno Balen, David A. Brown, Walter Patterson, @MiriamMerad , and many more. Follow along for more. Finally, a big thanks to Jamie, Peter, Crystal, Sam and the Xprize team for inviting me. *For context, there are now 20 finalists. 10 of those were awarded a million dollar Milestone 2 award. All teams now must complete clinical trials by the end of 2029 and a winner will be announced in 2030. Other teams can still theoretically enter…
