Also, switching /effort on Fable 5.1 no longer breaks prompt cache!
Fable 5.1 on medium effort ≈ Fable 5 on high, it's the first model where medium is my default in Claude Code. If you're building this weekend, try /effort medium and let me know what you think!

We've just reset weekly limits for everyone on a Claude Max plan. With Fable 5.1 out and a long weekend ahead for many of you, we wanted to keep you building. I'd love to see what you build!

I've seen some really cool demos using Function Hooks from the team! If you've been wanting to extend Claude Code more deeply, please check out the github issue and leave any feedback 🙏
We're exploring a new way to let you extend and customize Claude Code: Function Hooks. Here's a couple videos showing what you'd be able to do. It hasn't shipped yet, we'd love feedback on this on our GitHub issue.

An infrastructure issue is causing a partial outage across Claude Code, the API, and We're working on it but don't have an ETA yet. We'll post here when that changes, and quickest place for updates is always

Happy Fable 5.1 day 🧡
It’s ahead of both Fable 5 and Opus 5 across our agentic coding and computer use evals. On Terminal-Bench 4.0 in Claude Code, Fable 5.1 scores 55.8%. Fable 5 scores 42%, and Opus 5 scores 52.3% on the same setup.

Fable 5.1 is now live in Claude Code and the Claude Platform. It's priced the same as Fable 5, with 75% cheaper API cache reads. It gets a lot further into a long task before it needs your input, is better at telling you when it's stuck, and its writing style is more natural.

we already had /desktop to hand off a session from CLI to desktop, now you can use /resume to continue terminal sessions if you're already in the app!
You can now resume your terminal sessions in the Claude Code desktop app. Type /resume to pick any session you started from the CLI. The session continues in the app with the full conversation and context intact.

reminder to run `/tui fullscreen` in the claude code cli if you haven't already 👍
If you're using Claude Code for physical things (firmware, robots, sensors, home automation, etc.), I'd love to hear about your setup and what you're building!

more quality of life updates!🚀
Long answers on Claude on web and desktop now stream ~4x smoother. We rebuilt the streaming renderer to only touch what's still changing, so a long reply stalls 9x less on a slower laptop, its worst freeze is 4.5x shorter, and on a 120Hz MacBook it holds 120fps start to finish.

I asked what your #1# feature request was a while back, and remote control reliability came up way more than anything else. The team has shipped a bunch of improvements to it since, so thank you for all the feedback 🫶

Last month you told us Remote Control was the thing you'd most like us to fix, so we've been working hard on reliability. Here's what's better today: 🧵
seeing so many impressive Claude demos on my feed today if you're building something cool, please share! would love to learn more about your project + setup 🙏
tons of great claude code content on here, go watch! 🍿
Please try it out and let me know how we can make the responses even better!
You can now set Claude Code's output style to Concise. Claude leads with the result, keeps responses short, and still gives full detail when you ask. Turn it on in /config → Output style, or set "outputStyle": "Concise" in settings.json.

and if you're not sure whether your rules are clear enough, run "claude auto-mode critique". it'll flag anything ambiguous, redundant or likely to false-positive more in docs:
btw you can configure auto mode in Claude Code in plain English the classifier is a separate model that reviews each action, so it just reads these rules when deciding what to allow/block. adding "$defaults" keeps the built-in rules as well!

Today we’re releasing an early preview of the /design command in Claude Code! from CC Desktop or CLI, try something like "/design a few options for {feature}" before you build — pick your fave artboard, edit it and implement.

Is there anything you wish you could personalize in Claude Code that hooks, permissions, custom subagents, etc. can't get you yet? What would you use it for?
In Claude Code desktop's Browser pane, you can select any element (⌘⇧S) and say what to change. Claude reads the DOM elements, React components, and styles before making edits. You can also draw on the page, and give the annotation to Claude as context.
