Another long and packed week at work is finally over. And lately, I’m seeing the same thing way too often: Phones coming in absolutely COOKED. I mean melted connectors, burned sub boards, damaged motherboards… phones that were probably not that far from becoming a much bigger problem. And there’s almost always one common denominator: Cheap, low-quality chargers. This customer got lucky. He noticed the back of the phone was literally starting to melt and unplugged it immediately. Charging connector burned. Sub-board cooked. Motherboard took the hit. A bit of work later, phone saved, but more importantly, data saved. Meanwhile I probably absorbed my weekly dose of lead fixing it 😂 so please, stop saving a few bucks on chargers. For my health… but especially for yours. A charger is cheaper than a phone. And definitely cheaper than a house 🔥

This morning I went to work wearing my @Backpack shirt, like I often do. At some point, a customer walks up to me and asks: “Are you a Backpack user?” I was a little suspicious at first, but said yeah I’m a lad. His face immediately lit up. He told me he had an iPhone that had fallen into water. Inside was a burner wallet and he no longer had the seed phrase. I told him I could try to bring the phone back to life, but I couldn’t promise anything. I’d also need the passcode to properly test it. He suddenly went pale. “I can’t give you the code. It’s the same one I use for the wallet.” Fair enough 😂 So I told him: don’t give it to me. I’ll do everything in front of you. You unlock it whenever I need access, and that way there’s nothing to worry about. A few hours of work and a new battery later… the iPhone came back to life. He was so focking happy. Then, in the middle of the excitement, he looked at me and said: “Lads on top! I knew I could trust a Lad.” Man… I melted. Such a small sentence, but it hit me. Because sometimes being part of a community is more than a PFP, an NFT, a token, or a shirt. Sometimes it’s recognizing someone you’ve never met before and feeling like you already share something. And yeah, I’m proud to be a @MadLads . But the story somehow got even better. About an hour later, the guy came back to the shop. He wanted to thank me for helping him and for taking the extra care to make him feel comfortable. And he brought me a gift: A Series 1 Pokémon box. The same one I wanted to buy when it dropped but couldn’t get. I just stood there looking at it like… no way. All because I decided to wear a Backpack shirt to work this morning. The internet is weird. Crypto is weird. But sometimes, it creates connections in the real world that you could never plan. Btw should I open it? Or should I keep it sealed?
