So another long-standing open conjecture was disproved by AI.
The crazy part is the prompts… basically:
- “do a breakthrough”
- “continue the search”
- “enough, do it”
Anyone will be able to make world-bending breakthroughs soon. Just point the model in the right direction.
I'm so angry... the OpenAI team is looking into it, but this feels like something that should happen with GPT-3.5.
Not a mid-2026 frontier model on the highest reasoning level.
GPT-5.6-Sol one-shotted this voxel-based Manhattan.
Just look at the precision... it's insane.
It ran for almost a week, completely autonomously, to get the job done.
I had early access to GPT-5.6 Sol.
It’s an amazing model, but for almost every task I tested, Fable was quite a bit better, and more agentic to boot (one Fable turn does the same thing many 5.6 turns do).
Full review coming on launch day!
