We've recently made Pi's cache behavior more visible. This site has been debating whether agent harnesses are helping or quietly torching their caches. That seemed like a good excuse to explain how KV caches actually work and how Pi helps (or doesn't).

I had some vibes that Opus 4.8 was performing worse than older ones for some of uses that are off distribution and now I have the receipts. Latest Opus/Sonnet are causing tool invocation failures on Pi's edit tool when older ones did not! I wrote about it.

Why do people think there is more clarity in their communications when they throw their thoughts into an LLM before sharing? I’m so sick and tired of engaging with people who send me regurgitated clanker slop :-/

Trying to see what I can do to improve Pi on Windows.
The best thing about node’s built in type support is that workers stop being a pain involving bundlers.
Also someone please explain to me how these two narratives can coexist on here: SDKs are too hard, you need a flimsy startup to generate you SDKs from an OpenAI spec and it's the end of software engineering because clankers can do everything.

I just looked. We had Sonnet 4.0 (yeah, last century tech) build us an OpenAPI to Python and TypeScript generator last year (Python + minijinja templates). Total lines of code 2400 and hasn't been touched since. This thing is not rocket science.

Turn off your background clankers people.
The only bad thing about Vienna’s airport is the lack of direct flights to San Francisco.
Can someone please travel back in time to ~2020 or something and ship node:ffi back then? Life is miserable right now :(
Booting Windows and trying to make shit work with it was a mistake. Flashbacks from 6 months ago where I tried this last.
Not sure what I expected, but I cannot tell or measure a difference.
Small experiment: I'm using my Pi coding sessions as calibration data for a new DeepSeek V4 Flash Q2 quant, via antirez's ds4 imatrix machinery. Absolutely no expectations, but I'm curious to see what happens. Not sure how to eval though.

My windows machine has cursor installed. That's how you can tell when I last used it -.-
Current status: drawing more power than the thing can charge.

In case this is a node that's too new for you: please let us know why.
People of I have emerged from the refactoring mines to bring you a new release. pi-ai now supports the first iteration of an image gen API. pi-agent-core has the WIP new SDK in it, not fit for use, but check the sources if you want to tag along the madness. pi-coding-agent will eventually be switched over, old SDK will be gone. migration guide will allow your agent to ... migrate old SDK -> new SDK easily. The refactoring will continue (on main) until moral improves.
