SF wedge on gender dysphoria. According to the LucidTalk poll last year in the aftermath of the UK Supreme Court ruling which restored the primacy of biological sex, there is already a wedge in SF! Practically all parties have differing views, and in SF case, those who expressed a view were 2-1 in favour of the ruling. And what did SF HQ do when two of their stars spoke in favour about the ruling? In David Cullinane case, he was forced to issue an apology and attend a re-education seminar. And in Padraig MacLochlainn case, he has been sidelined by SF HQ by no longer being put forward on national political panel debate shows. Prior to his statement in April 2025 that a "woman is an adult female", he was on ~4 shows a year. In the 15 months since, he was put forward only once, 21 Oct 2025 RTE Radio Late Debate. And the party leader herself, whose brother has the gender dysphoria, decided to go on Ireland's #1# TV show a fortnight after the ruling, to ruthlessly pull the rug from beneath the majority of her base. Practically all political parties have divided opinions on gender dysphoria, but in SF, it can be correctly characterised as a 'wedge' between SF HQ and the majority of its base.
