Story time: Cero
The only team in Nitro that came in with just an idea. Everyone else had a product and traction
MJ, Miks, Rudolphs and Alex have built great companies before so we had to take them in
They made a product in a week, tested it with 100s of users, iterated quickly, and froze a product/thesis within one month
Then they solved regulation problems, made a great consumer app, and got to GTM in 2 months
MJ is the most optimistic and happy founder i’ve ever. Generally, founders are paranoid people trying to find where this will break and fix it before it does
MJ’s answers are: it’ll be great bro. Don’t worry, Pareen we will do it. Don’t worry.
I was worried till i saw this optimism is not unfounded. They execute like hell. When this team decides to do something, they go after it with so much intensity, i believe they will capture a large market in the next few months
Meet Cero
Story time: Blink
Jacob had the simplest product in Nitro. Almost so simple, i thought i could vibe code this in a weekend
What was difficult was driving traction. I joined a few BD calls and realised this is going to be very hard to sell
Everyone told them no one uses passkeys at this time. They should think of other ways, maybe even copy funxyz
Jacob said: Hey, I know this will be hard but we have a clear thesis and we will prove this is a better deposit method
Now i see passkeys everywhere and i think of Blink
They went so deep, it made me realise i always need to leave the app to make a deposit. That would be considered unacceptable in web2 UX
Jacob personifies focus and conviction
They took the hardest approach (Crsh: live streams) and proved that they could 2/3x the deposit rate compared to a run-of-the-mill deposit widget
This is their contrarian bet. But the team has so much experience at LayerZero, Circle, etc that you want to back them.
They left high-paying, prestigious jobs to go all-in on one clear thesis
