I asked in Parliament on the proportion of cyber fraud victims between women and senior citizens on the national cyber crime reporting portal. For senior citizens: Complaints: 103,488
Amount reported: ₹4,005.12 crore
For Women:
Complaints: 463,114
Amount reported: ₹3,764.51 crore.
Women account for far more complaints.
Senior citizens account for larger monetary losses despite fewer complaints. So: higher-value frauds against elderly victims,
possibly pension, investment and savings scams. Stronger protection and awareness measures to safeguard our vulnerable senior citizens are needed.
