We need a completely new culture around infrastructure -- images, architecture, rituals, stories etc that make technological innovation feel like a shared national adventure. Note that the 20th century photos of big infrastructure that ppl now share w/ nostalgia were often the result of an active effort to CULTIVATE the technological sublime. The govt and companies commissioned photographers, filmmakers, artists, even musicians to imagine new infrastructure as a source of beauty and power and purpose. We need to do this again in a new era -- need a National Design Studio
