I don't think AI will eliminate indie hackers.
It's true that my 10 years of SWE experience has become more and more irrelevant because AI can now do most of it, but looking back, my SWE skills were only a small part of being an indie hacker.
The most important part is still solving valuable problems and looking for customers.
If anything, AI created a whole new class of problems that are now open for people to explore and solve.
Indie hackers are problem solvers/entrepreneurs, removing the coding part means removing a lot of friction, and it will enable indie hackers to do 10x more at 10x speed.

Asked Claude Fable 5 and GPT 5.6 Sol to clone Terraria, max effort level
Both are playable and offer a smooth experience
GPT 5.6 Sol did it at roughly 1/4 the cost and in 2/3 the runtime:
- GPT 5.6 Sol: ~$35, ~1h 20m
- Claude Fable 5: ~$120, ~2h
Tho Fable still produced the strongest results 🥲

I designed @getfinny from the ground up, took over development in January, and started monetizing it in March.
Following one piece of advice from successful founders: scratch your own itch before looking to solve someone else's problem.
Now it's sitting in the top Finance iOS apps in SEA and thousands of people are using it daily to actually understand their money.
Maybe this is what product validation looks like.
