Building something fun for $FWA Gacha Battles
Since FWA purchases were enabled, the protocol has generated 93.5% of all Chainlink random-number requests on Ethereum Fake World Assets
Thread Guy is referring to Adam (Rhynotic) of TokenWorks, the creator of Fake World Assets (FWA). The onchain NFT gacha protocol has been generating massive Ethereum transaction fees and activity lately. Thread Guy has repeatedly hyped it in the context of "saving ethereum" through pure onchain momentum.

We've increased the percentage of protocol fees going to buybacks from 80% to 100% We believe directing 100% of protocol fees to buybacks will foster a healthy ecosystem and support the protocol’s long-term viability.

One of the largest pain points of purchasing is how long it takes to settle While we can't speed up Ethereum blocks (eventually they'll drop from 12s to 3s), we can improve the wait experience You can now purchase multiple times while you wait

inspiring designers (and llms) since 2021
These sections of the docs have not changed since a week before launch. Yes, TokenWorks makes money. I'm personally of the belief that if you build an innovative product you should be rewarded, just as traders do. The goal is move future incoming fees (starting tomorrow) from going to TokenWorks to the token and make a sustainable protocol. There is no percentage of retroactive fees that would satisfy everyone. If you were hoping a large portion fees would be used for this I’m sorry, but it was never stated or even hinted at. I also don’t think it would do anything other than temporarily increase the token price, only for people to sell into it. I'd rather use it to keep building the protocol and add new features just like we've been planning from the start. That being said, I do hear the feedback and I know everyone is just speaking from a place of wanting to see the protocol succeed. and for the protocol to succeed, more of the future fees need to stay within the ecosystem. We'll increase the portion of future protocol fees going to buybacks from 50% as announced earlier (currently 0%) up to 80%. This number can always be increased in the future, and does not include the 1% trading fee on the token itself. Since the token was only able to be acquired by participating, TokenWorks currently holds no supply (I personally own around 1%). I do think it makes sense to use a portion of the fees to build a team reserve, and we'll use 10% of the fees accumulated to TokenWorks (not the splitter) thus far to build this. This will not satisfy everyone, but the goal is to show long-term alignment and continue working. Anyway, see you all tomorrow.

Make Ethereum fun again
Thank you all for participating in the initial launch period of Fake World Assets. We believe that preventing external buys created a healthier protocol, as only participants were able to acquire the token as it matured. Now that the token has distributed to participants over two weeks, external buys will be enabled on August 4th at 3pm EST. In addition, we'll be routing 50% of future protocol fees that previously were going to TokenWorks to the buyback mechanism as stated in the docs. The tokens from buybacks will be distributed in three ways: 70% to purchasers, 10% to depositors, and 20% burned. We believe this will help bring the protocol into a sustainable, long-term equilibrium. We'll also lower the additional fee on top of each purchase from 5% to 2.5% and increase the depositor bid from 85% to 90%. From 9am to 12pm EST on Tuesday we'll be disabling purchases to allow depositors to withdraw across time zones ahead of these changes. All of these percentages will be continued to be tweaked as necessary for the health of the protocol. Thank you for helping us make Ethereum fun again.

just two men and a dream s/o Adam, feeling privileged to craft one crazy experiment after another
Earlier this year I launched s02 - a way for TokenWorks to survive without VC. 299 NFTs were purchased for 1e each by patrons expecting nothing in return, giving me the freedom to experiment freely. 30% of FWA fees have been going to holders as a gift, currently at 1.7Ξ each
