Recent Theo hate looks even more astroturfed than recent AI doomerism. It's not even for some take, but for choice of words in the title, meaning of which is obvious without any context???
GNOME Foundation members are crashing out because Digital Ocean stopped sponsoring Flathub server for $50/month and instead gave 3 million dollars to DHH and Omarchy.
Meanwhile, a year ago when GNOME foundation released a blog post thanking AWS for sponsoring them, they got a lot of criticism from the unemployed.
It turns out it's very hard to make money in open source if you hate money, and you hate people who have money.

I resigned from Khronos Group today. I spent the last three years doing graphics API research at Khronos and Microsoft. Neither of them is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-increasing lines of code per triangle and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Just watched Casey's episode about performance on The Pragmatic Engineer. My favorite part is:
- Are you using AI to make your new game?
- No
- Why?
- Because I don't want to
And then Casey compares himself to an organic farmer guy vs IKEA factory manager.
I relate to this a lot, and this is why I don't use AI for my side projects. Not because of some made-up ethical or productivity reason. I just simply don't want to, and I like that I don't have to justify it.
Also, I've been sleeping on Gergely Orosz until recently, great podcast!
