Sept. 21, join “OBON,” a staged reading of a work-in-progress by acclaimed novelist and playwright Yū Miri at the Logan Center for the Arts. Miri is the author of Tokyo Ueno Station, winner of the 2020 National Book Award for Translated Literature.

We're wrapping up Yu Miri's residency here at UChicago with a second event, “Sound & Voice in Yu Miri's Work,” featuring Yu Miri reading from The End of August, a panel discussion of her work with Michael Bourdaghs, Scott Aalgaard, Yuki Miyamoto, and me, plus a staged reading performance of one scene from the work-in-progress play OBON.
We're also planning two staged readings of the new play, first at Logan Center for the Arts on the UChicago campus on 9/21
and a second at Theater Wit on 9/23 (more details on that coming soon).
