Programmable money 🤝 Programmable knowledge. @LeandroONoel from @aveniaio put it simply: Stablecoins do something more fundamental than move money. They standardize how money functions - accounts become wallets, payment methods become transfers. The same logic works across every jurisdiction. That makes software much simpler to build on top of. True for developers. True for AI too. AI will generate a wave of API-based payment demand that traditional rails weren't built for. An agent running a global business doesn't need a bank account - it needs programmable money that settles instantly, works across borders, and doesn't need to ask for permission. Agentic payments are still early. But when AI starts running global businesses autonomously - what else would it use?

Some news: I've started my next tour of duty as CTO @coinbase. In 2009 I got hooked on Bitcoin empowering builders with programmable money. In 2014 I joined Coinbase as an engineer because there was no better place to build it. Back then we ran on Heroku and supported one asset from one codebase. It was early, but we were a small team of cracked engineers who relentlessly shipped. Twelve years later a LOT has changed, but the most important things haven't: still a cracked team, still relentlessly shipping towards a massive mission. Now that we're in an era of exponential productivity, the only limiting factor is ambition. Which is why I'm so bullish on the culture @brian_armstrong, @emiliemc and team have built for this next chapter. My job is clear: make Coinbase the best place in the world to build. Once a year, the world’s central bankers meet at the Fed’s Jackson Hole symposium to map out monetary policy. This year’s agenda: stablecoins, tokenized deposits and programmable money. DeFi has been building that layer for years. We started in 2019.

Banks Onchain 🏦 @jpmorgan is evaluating its own stablecoin. @BankofAmerica and @WellsFargo are advancing a cross-border venture. These developments mark a shift in onchain settlements becoming an institutional roadmap. Each new issuer expands the addressable market for programmable money and validates the infrastructure the industry has spent years building. As issuance broadens, interoperable and self-sovereign rails become more valuable.
