Think a lower ROAS means you need narrower targeting? 👀
Not always. Cutting your audience too aggressively can actually give Meta less room to learn, optimize, and find potential buyers.
Sometimes, better performance comes from broader targeting, stronger creatives, and looking beyond the audience itself.
So before adding another exclusion, ask yourself: Is targeting really the problem?

Hey
@grok
Is the Israeli government funding Ted Cruz’s podcast through paid ads?
scaling acquisition before retention is fixed is just buying more people to disappoint.
no paid ads until your users actually stay.
that's our hard rule.
A lot of people still confuse revenue with profit.
Revenue is easy to inflate.
You can spend $100k on paid ads, generate $80k in revenue.
Profit is much harder.
If your margins suck, you won’t survive for long, unless you’re VC-backed or have a ton of cash to burn.

the more my business grows and the more i realize it relies on growing from my organic content the more i want to crack into paid ads so i can just put $1 in and get $2 back for the rest of my life
been working with marketing for 8 years now
good marketing is mostly about
planning, building sequences, and funnels for your touch points
not so much about ''KOL push, paid Ads'' etc
you need to design every touch point with the audience
I just recorded a new Youtube video around this which will go live soon

I run an 8+ figure consulting business.
I’m extremely niche-specific with who I help.
My primary focus is fitness, wellness, and health coaches who want to get to $100K/month.
But because of the size of the business I’ve built, I constantly get coaches from other industries asking me for help.
Especially when it comes to paid ads.
And there’s an interesting business opportunity there.
I sell 45–60 minutes of my time for $2,000-$3,000.
On average, that adds another $60K–$80K/month to the business.
Could I turn that into a coaching program?
Absolutely.
Could I build some massive offer around helping coaches in every industry scale?
Probably.
But I don’t really want to.
I like staying in my lane.
I like being known for one specific thing.
And I like the simplicity of someone paying me $3K, getting an hour of my brain, implementing what I tell them, and going on their way.
No 6-month commitment.
No complicated fulfillment.
No giant coaching community.
No need to take on another 50 clients.
Just:
$3K → 60 minutes → solve the problem.
There’s something underrated about building a business around what you’re exceptionally good at…
without feeling the need to monetize every possible opportunity.
Sometimes the best business decision isn’t adding another offer.
It’s knowing what you don’t want to build.

Here's a B2B SaaS you could scale with programmatic SEO:
A carrier risk monitoring tool for freight brokers
Combine and analyze public data from the FMCSA to build tools for brokers to vet shipping carriers in a simple dashboard.
The SaaS would be built around DOT and MC numbers and let the broker see patterns like:
- Shared phone numbers, addresses between DOT records
- Carrier changing contact details after approvals
- Suspended authority or filing changes
- Carriers rejected by other customers (build your own fraud data over time)
The goal is to give the broker all of the data in the clearest way possible so they can decide whether to approve the carrier or not. These are trust signals and not "fraud" but it's an industry with a lot of potential loss (estimated ~$725m in 2025)
Descartes acquired MyCarrierPortal in September 2024 for ~$24 million and charge $500 a month for their service.
Carrier411 claims 3000+ brokers use the platform at $99/mo which would be somewhere around $300k MRR.
I would test tiered pricing maybe starting with $29, $49, $99/mo and use programmatic SEO to reach customers way further down in the buying funnel. Nail the product, then you can explore paid ads, increase pricing, etc.
On the programmatic SEO side, don't do a page for every DOT number. Trust me - I built a site around that and grew it to 500 daily visits but the number of pages makes it hard to get them indexed and stay indexed and it has limited usefulness I think outside of the more popular and well known carriers.
"dot lookup" gets 4400 searches a month and "mc number lookup" gets 3600. These could be tools you build to support the site but I think "carrier monitoring" at 100 and "carrier vetting" at 150 are more interesting threads.
Then there are a lot of category keywords like "flatbed trucking companies" at 900 searches a month to explore.
You have two options with pSEO, a smaller site of around 700 pages or a bigger one with a selection of cities, locations and carrier profiles (around 9k pages)
Option A:
- Home, product, tools, support pages: 20
- Broker guides and checklists: 30
- State directory: 50
- Selected city directory: 150
- Verified cargo/service hubs: 10
- Selected category + state hubs: 10
- Selected carrier pofiles: 200
- Fleet statistics reports: 40
Option B:
Everything in option A, plus:
- 600 more city pages
- 600 more category/location pages
- 100 original reports/guides
- 7000 selected carrier profiles
I put together a full report on this back when I was building out my test site. I ended up killing it despite getting 500 visitors a day because I'm not in the US, don't know or care to know the freight industry that well and had other things that took off and didn't have time for it.
Let me know if you'd want the report and I can clean it up and publish it.
