gas prices still holding stubbornly high, and with today's wholesale price increases (as markets react to a potential diesel export slowdown), we may see some upward price pressure until a decision (if any) is made. for now, national average $4.482/gal for gas, $6.52/gal diesel.

XOM did not "shut down" its refinery- it lost power- through its utility provider ComEd, per a statement. It's losing tens of millions every day its output is impacted, and is likely scrambling to restart ASAP. no refiner wants any unforced downtime, not a single one.

It's full-day official: GasBuddy data shows yesterday's full-day official national average price of diesel at $5.848/gal, setting a record, beating $5.819/gal on June 17, 2022.

PADD 1 distillate inventories just fell 8%- in one week- really starting to get concerning, especially with Irving Oil's refinery going down in 2 weeks for 2 months... just 2.3 million barrels of distillate in New England. a 17% weekly drop in PADD 1C as well...

gasoline $3.83/gal (2012) vs $4.10 today
diesel $5.05/gal (2022) vs $5.58 today
