Court records by local investigators cited prior threats with a gun. Shooter was in the apartment building long enough to empty a magazine into it. Walz posted that the “public safety team is responding.” Frey asked people to stay away from the block. Minnesota has spent years arguing about anti-gun slogans. The officers on Grant Street did not get a slogan. They got a haze and a hallway. This is not “random” until the files say it is. It is a man with a gun, a notice on the door, and a city that keeps learning the same lesson in blood. Say the officers’ names when they release them. Say the victims’ names when they release them.
