I've been reluctant to address Buckley Carlson, despite his being one of the most malicious and dishonest lunatics in public life and one of the worst actors in the campaign to malign Erika Kirk, TPUSA, and America more broadly over the last year. I've been reluctant because Buckley is a public figure only owing to the enormous fame of his brother, and because Tucker is not responsible for Buckley's sins. But Tucker is responsible for elevating his brother's stature even as Buckley has spewed one disgusting conspiracy after another. @BlakeSNeff says he tried talking to Tucker about the issue and got nowhere.

Charlie Kirk's producer, @BlakeSNeff, says he owes his entire career to Tucker Carlson after Tucker tapped him as his head writer on what became one of the most important nightly monologues in the Conservative Movement -- and arguably in the nation. Last week, Tucker accused Blake of embracing censorship over a Politico profile in which Blake argued the movement has to be willing to reject and denounce the year-long campaign of lies against Erika Kirk and Turning Point. Blake has been one of the most prominent voices online fighting back against Candace Owens' vile campaign against Erika Kirk and TPUSA. He insists he is a free speech maximalist. He has never asked a platform to ban Candace or a law to stop her. What he holds firmly is that a movement that cannot call a lie a lie will fail, and that Tucker, in extending Candace maximum grace, is carrying water for the people telling it.

America is 250 years old. 9/11 was 25 years ago. Ten percent of our history has come and gone since that terrible day. A generation. 90 million Americans have been born since. Twenty-five percent of our people weren’t even alive when the world stopped turning. They do not remember because they cannot. So today we remember, those of us who can. We tell the story so those born too late to remember may know. We call to mind the lessons, many of which have already been lost to time and decay, to conspiracy theories and cynicism peddled for money and fame and power: That ignoring the world does not mean the world ignores us. That competition between civilizations does not end simply because we claim the board is settled. That peace is not the norm, but the exception, and is purchased only by strength and will. And that a nation that sneers at its own mission and mythology will not long remain a nation at all. That the barbarians are always at the gate—and inside it. We mourn the unimaginable loss of that day, when our sleeping nation was jolted awake for a moment, only to doze again. We pray that our eyes might one day remain open.

It’s been one year since Charlie was murdered in the most significant political assassination of my lifetime. One year, and it feels like every day of that year was somehow a reaction to that horrible moment. Charlie had flaws, like any man. He was not killed for them. Charlie was murdered for what was best about him — for what was extraordinary about him: He spoke the truth with strength and love — two qualities we’ve been assured cannot coexist, and yet Charlie showed us that they can and must. Some of the worst ugliness humans are capable of has been unleashed by Charlie’s death. Evil performed for clicks, for money, and sometimes just for attention. Evil performed in the name of friendship. Evil performed in the name of God. Evil performed in the name of politics, both left and right. His death has been celebrated. His beloved wife has been mocked and scorned. His friends accused. His life’s work disparaged. His children will have to grow up in a world that lies to them every day about what kind of man he was. It is easy on a day like today to damn it all. Charlie wouldn’t. He would have hugged his wife, sent a few Bible verses off to his friends, modeled love for his children, and gotten back to work — speaking the truth with strength and love. He had a better heart than I do, but I will try to follow his lead.

I love this clip. Puts it all on display. Once you suggest -- as Tucker has at least twice now -- that Ben Shapiro only got into college because of some grand global conspiracy, you have jumped the last shark. He either can't hear himself, in which case he's a lunatic, or he can hear himself, in which case he's a deceiver on the level of Iago or Grima Wormtongue. Either way, if you're listening to this guy, you're a mark. Obviously.

In which Carrie constructs a perfect defense of the concept behind the common usage of the term “Judeo-Christian” without realizing it. She is so blinded by Jew hate and ridiculous tribal politics that she can’t see her own, accurate defense of it. No one has claimed the Founding was exclusively Protestant. It was, however, predominately Protestant. It was Catholic, too, because of the few but important Catholic men who contributed directly — and more, because of the history of Catholic thought undergirding Protestantism and built upon by Protestants. Why, one might accurately say the founding was Cathlo-Protestant in the same way as it is Judeo-Christian — if one weren’t trying to spark division and get clicks. America is a profoundly Protestant nation by design. Protestantism traces historically through Catholicism and Judaism before it. Certain and important Catholics and Jews also contributed to her founding and her underlying values. Jewish values are sometimes incompatible with Christian ones, but rarely in the most practical sense. Catholic values are sometimes incompatible with Protestant ones, but rarely in the most practical sense. Because a nation is fundamentally about what unites us instead of what divides us, we are often generous with our civic ecumenism. Carrie isn’t. She doesn’t want unity among free people. She wants conquest and division. Those are the values most incompatible with a healthy nation, not the Jewish or Protestant values she attacks.
