No one has claimed the Founding was exclusively Protestant. It was, however, predominately Protestant. It was Catholic, too, because of the few but important Catholic men who contributed directly — and more, because of the history of Catholic thought undergirding Protestantism and built upon by Protestants.
Why, one might accurately say the founding was Cathlo-Protestant in the same way as it is Judeo-Christian — if one weren’t trying to spark division and get clicks.
America is a profoundly Protestant nation by design. Protestantism traces historically through Catholicism and Judaism before it. Certain and important Catholics and Jews also contributed to her founding and her underlying values.
Jewish values are sometimes incompatible with Christian ones, but rarely in the most practical sense. Catholic values are sometimes incompatible with Protestant ones, but rarely in the most practical sense.
Because a nation is fundamentally about what unites us instead of what divides us, we are often generous with our civic ecumenism.
Carrie isn’t. She doesn’t want unity among free people. She wants conquest and division.
Those are the values most incompatible with a healthy nation, not the Jewish or Protestant values she attacks.
