Liquid has reached its 4 millionth block. ๐
Born from the OG sidechain whitepaper in 2014, developed and announced alongside the first sidechain, Elements Alpha, in 2015, and launched in production in 2018, Liquid has quietly become an important piece of infrastructure for bitcoin over the years.
It enables confidentiality by default, native asset issuance, 0-conf, and, more recently, high-assurance Simplicity smart contracts and a growing DeFi ecosystem.
Today, Liquid supports more than $5B in tokenized real-world assets, spanning stablecoins like USDT and DEPIX, tokenized stocks, private credit, and gold funds.

I think long term Liquid + BitVM bridge is going to be the go-to for crypto stablecoin DeFi stuff on Bitcoin considering the maturity of Elements, plus inheriting Core's QA / testing. You have to take into account this new era of AI-guided attacks, and a narrowly scoped code base and/or mature well-tested one are likely advantageous.
