When the Lucy spacecraft starts flying by Trojan asteroids next year, it’ll snap photos, detect chemical “fingerprints” of materials on the asteroids’ surfaces, and more. Scientists are already calibrating the camera settings with test images like these.

NavCube3-mini is ready to go! After testing, the payload was delivered to Intuitive Machines for the Altus-1 lunar relay. Built on Goddard-developed tech, NavCube3-mini will help demonstrate navigation ability at the Moon from Earth-based GPS signals.

LINK, the robotic spacecraft from Katalyst Space designed to boost our Swift mission’s orbit, experienced issues with attitude control over the weekend, causing the spacecraft to spin and resulting in sporadic communications. The team is working to stop LINK’s spin over the next few days and then will update LINK’s guidance, navigation, and control to accommodate the spacecraft’s new configuration. Learn more:

Even from afar, wildfires are creating unhealthy air. A NASA-supported study found wildfires have worsened ground-level ozone, or smog, across the U.S., with larger changes in the West and Midwest. Wildfires can increase surface ozone thousands of miles away from active fires.
