Fascinating. Former professional footballer Magnus Okuonghae (I used to watch him play at Dagenham and Redbridge - a personable and articulate guy) went to school with Jason Arday and told the Guardian today: "I don’t remember too much about him, but I certainly recollect him being able to speak."

We and our lawyers have met with Chair of the @EHRC Mary-Ann Stephenson to raise our concerns relating to the implementation of the Supreme Court's ruling, NHS Trust policies, and the treatment of professionals holding Christian and gender-critical beliefs. Among the issues we raised were: 🔹 NHS policies that may conflict with the rights of staff and patients under the Equality Act. 🔹 The difficulty of establishing accountability when individual NHS Trusts adopt similar policies, despite responsibility appearing to sit at Trust level. 🔹 Concerns arising from cases such as that of Darlington nurses, Sandie Peggie and Jennifer Melle, which raise questions about whether healthcare professionals are being treated detrimentally because of their protected beliefs. 🔹 Whether regulatory bodies, including the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), are adequately safeguarding the rights of registrants with protected philosophical beliefs. 🔹 The need for clear evidence where individuals are being singled out because of their beliefs, rather than concerns simply being dismissed as organisational failings. As the EHRC's revised Code of Practice comes into effect, these questions cannot be ignored. Public bodies, NHS Trusts and regulators must ensure that equality law protects everyone, including those whose beliefs are unpopular or contested. The experiences of the Darlington nurses demonstrate why transparency, accountability and equal treatment under the law remain so important. Thank you also for the support from the Christian Legal Centre and @CConcern See more on our case and Jennifer Melle 👇🏻

The Free Speech Union is taking an interest in the story of Jason Arday for a number of reasons. First, we want to know who paid for the threatening letter from the law firm Carter-Ruck — effectively a SLAPP — that was sent to Times Higher Education in an attempt to get journalist Jack Grove to stop asking Professor Arday questions about his academic record. Was it Jason Arday himself? The University of Cambridge? Or the Good Law Project? Second, we want to know who reported both the academic and former professor David Harris and Times Higher Education journalist Jack Grove to the police, alleging harassment after they began asking Arday questions about his academic and extracurricular record. In David Harris’s case, the Metropolitan Police referred the complaint to Devon and Cornwall Police, which rightly decided there was nothing to investigate. But in Jack Grove’s case, he was contacted by the police and informed that he had been the subject of a four-month investigation by the Met. While officers said they would be taking no further action, he was told he should refrain from questioning Jason Arday again because it was also affecting Arday’s mental health. The police should never be telling journalists whom they can and cannot question — particularly when there are legitimate questions that need answering. Powerful people should not be able to use the police to silence journalists and academics who are simply asking questions and doing their jobs. The Free Speech Union has written to Sir Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, to ask what on earth his officers were playing at. He has yet to reply. If Jason Arday was the person who reported these individuals to the police, that is one thing. But if it was the University of Cambridge, that would be even more serious — and is something FSU General Secretary Lord Young will be raising in Parliament in due course. Watch Lord Young below 👇

I am back on @GBNEWS for three hours with Emily Carver and Katherine Forster, 12pm to 3pm on Good Afternoon Britain. Tune in!
Hi Andy, I don’t use my BBC subscription, could you help me cancel. While you’re at it, my water provider is providing a partial service, I can’t use my hose, can I get a refund. Also I haven’t subscribed to picking up illegal migrants in the channel, could I stop funding it. I’d also like to unsubscribe from funding wind and solar farms through compulsory tariffs on my energy bill. Best of luck.

He makes it sound like taking in wartime evacuees or something. Goodnight Mr Tom, but instead of a sweet little Cockney lad it’s fighting age males from troubled parts of the world who are disproportionately likely to commit sex crimes

None of us needs to "play our part". The mass importation of rapey migrants from the world's worst countries is not some national undertaking that we have agreed to. It is an outrage that has been done to us despite our explicit opposition.

The County Council voted to become a ‘county of sanctuary’ and a ‘city of sanctuary’ several years ago. Now they’ve got dozens of illegal immigrants in a historic village hall and loads of very angry locals.

Burnham did an interview with @GBNEWS - promised to be ‘relentless’ in tackling illegal immigration, then immediately said he’s not across detail of plans to house around 1,250 illegal men in the tiny hamlet of Piddington. It takes about 2mins to educate yourself on that issue.

We can reveal that a former supporter of Hizb ut-Tahrir, now banned as a terror group, has been appointed assistant research professor of education at Cambridge, in the same faculty as Arday. Farah Ahmed has explicitly attacked 'western education' as a 'threat' to Muslims, condemned democracy and integration, and criticised British schools for teaching pupils that child marriage is wrong. During her time at Cambridge, she has written that the Islamic concept of education is sharply opposed to 'gaining literacy and numeracy and other disciplinary skills demonstrated through qualifications'. These statements are part of her long record of bigoted, extremist and separatist views on education. ✍️ Andrew Gilligan Article | | @mragilligan

For context - two and a half of these boats and the Crowborough Army Barracks is full, five of them and the new site in Piddington would be full. Then where do we put them?
