🇿🇲 The Duchess of Edinburgh has visited the Republic of Zambia to celebrate the relationship between Zambia and the UK. Her Royal Highness's programme highlighted shared interests, including gender equality, climate and nature, and education and research partnerships.

This morning at Dumfries House, Sir James MacMillan was received by The King when His Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle. His Majesty also presented Sir James with The King’s Medal for Music.

“I really am enormously grateful for the presence in this room of many of our greatest technological minds, and indeed, for the thoughtful stewardship demonstrated by those gathered here today as you consider the fundamental principles that should – and must – guide the development of Artificial Intelligence in the years ahead.” Today at Dumfries House, The King convened AI pioneers, Government representatives and thought leaders to discuss how AI can be developed and deployed in ways that benefit society.

Today at @cairngormsnews, The King met firefighters, volunteers, and community leaders to thank them for their response to this summer’s devastating Glenmore and Abernethy wildfires, hearing firsthand accounts of the recovery efforts. The visit also celebrated a historic new conservation partnership: the official twinning of the Cairngorms with the USA's @shenandoahnps. Recalling his speech to Congress about how these two ancient mountain ranges were once one, His Majesty met with staff and Junior Rangers from both locations to launch this new "Sister Parks" initiative dedicated to protecting our shared natural heritage. 🌲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

My wife and I have been appalled by the devastating impact of wildfires this summer and the terrible destruction they have caused to homes, livelihoods and landscapes, not only in this beautiful part of the Cairngorms, but across the United Kingdom and - as we have seen - other regions of Europe. I can only express my admiration and appreciation to all those who have worked so tirelessly and courageously, in the U.K. and beyond, to bring these fires under control and to those supporting communities facing the long road to restoration and renewal that still lies ahead. The shock of witnessing these fires around the world in recent months reminds us forcibly of the mounting pressures that prolonged heat and drought are placing upon our precious Earth, and of the increasingly urgent need not only to strengthen our collective resilience, including through preparedness and risk reduction, but also to tackle the root causes of climate change which, if not addressed, risk creating conditions which will make such tragic and costly events ever more frequent. As the work of recovery still goes on for many, the compassion and fortitude of the communities affected shine through. A round of a-paws for this year’s winners of the International Sheep Dog Trials! 🐾 🐑🐕 As Patron, The Princess Royal attended the event hosted by the International Sheep Dog Society, which works to support the training and welfare of sheep dogs. Her Royal Highness met team members from across the United Kingdom, watched qualifying runs and presented awards for the contribution to sheepdog trialling.

Remembering all those affected by the tragic events of 9/11, 25 years ago today. A commemorative Guard Change took place on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace this morning, during which The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester took the Royal Salute on behalf of The King. The ceremony included performances of both US and UK National Anthems, Hymn to the Fallen and Amazing Grace. Earlier this year, Their Majesties paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial in New York, as part of the State Visit to the United States.

🌱 The Duchess of Edinburgh has spent two days in Cumbria learning more about the county’s farming communities, opportunities for young people in agriculture and sustainable food production.

Over the weekend, The King and Queen attended the Braemar Gathering at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Aberdeenshire. 🥃 Held on the first Saturday of September every year, the Gathering features events including tug-of-war, caber toss, hammer throw, Highland dancing and a parade of pipe bands.

📚 The Queen visited Spellow Community Hub & Library in Liverpool, which has reopened after the site was destroyed by rioters in August 2024.   The arson attack caused extensive damage, but the refurbished library is once again considered the heart of the community. The Queen met library staff, locals who use the space and children who are members of the library’s Chess Club. ❤️ Her Majesty also learnt more about the smart classrooms, flexible learning spaces, council services and parent-and-toddler groups available to the local community.

Surprise! 📖✨ This evening, The Queen made a surprise appearance at the Royal Festival Hall in London, reading a historic letter written by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, as part of ‘Letters Live’. ‘Letters Live’ is a live celebration of the enduring power of literary correspondence. Each show always features a completely different array of great performers, reading remarkable letters written over the centuries and from around the world. Audiences attending Letters Live never know who is going to take to the stage or what letter they are going to bring alive. Her Majesty participated in tonight’s show alongside other cast members including Jessie Buckley, Simon Callow, Olivia Colman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dame Harriet Walter, Rob Rinder, Sara Pascoe, and more. Tonight’s show will raise money for @Literacy_Trust, of which Her Majesty is Patron.

Celebrating 30 years of Ebony Horse Club. 🐴   The Queen, President of Ebony Horse Club, visited the youth charity and community riding centre at their stables in Brixton.   🐎 Her Majesty met volunteers and young people who use the stables, including two teenagers who have just gained places at the British Racing School. The Queen also met horses, including Taylor and Maggie, who have joined Ebony from the Royal Mews.

🇬🇧🇴🇲 His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman will pay a State Visit to the UK as the guest of Their Majesties The King and Queen from Tuesday 20th to Thursday 22nd October 2026.
