Hamas has proven through its actions that it will do anything to cling to power. They hope that we will give up and turn a blind eye. We will not. Countless deaths could have been avoided had Ukraine and Russia answered President Trump’s call to negotiate an end to this war. There is no military solution. The United States renews its call for an immediate ceasefire and good-faith negotiations toward a lasting peace.

The United States welcomes Chad's decision to withdraw from the ICC and join the growing number of nations reclaiming their sovereignty from this flawed institution. As @SecRubio has stated, the United States will never surrender its sovereignty to an unaccountable global tribunal, and we are launching a comprehensive, whole-of-government campaign to end the ICC's illegitimate overreach. We call on all other ICC members to withdraw from the Rome Statute.

The U.S. welcomes the decision by interim President Delcy Rodriguez and Venezuela to withdraw from the ICC and the new Venezuelan government's partnership on American-led efforts to dismantle the corrupt and worthless ICC. The so-called court has been "investigating" Nicolas Maduro since 2018 with no result. The ICC has instead wasted its resources on investigating and charging persons from countries that have competent, independent judicial systems and which never submitted to the jurisdiction of the court. This is blatant overreach, political bias and selective enforcement. The ICC is neither credible, independent, nor legitimate. Thanks to President Trump's leadership and the efforts of brave American service members, Maduro is now facing justice in U.S. court for crimes he has committed. It is time to dismantle the ICC. The U.S. calls on all members of the ICC to withdraw from the Rome Statute.

Today’s rushed vote to extend Volker Turk isn't about merit or consensus; it looks like classic @UN cronyism—an outgoing Secretary-General cutting a backroom deal to hand his long-time friend a four-year executive payout – one that could pay nearly a million dollars—just as he’s on his way out the door. Turk spends his time lecturing free, sovereign democracies like the United States for enforcing our laws and securing our borders, while remaining soft on the world's worst oppressors. It is the height of hypocrisy for a UN bureaucrat to lecture the American people on border security while brutal dictatorships run rampant with impunity.

Karim Khan is a quintessential example of the ICC's corruption and abuse of its supposed authority. It is good that he is gone, but he is only one small cog in this irredeemably corrupt institution. Today's outcome will have no impact on the United States' plans to dismantle the ICC.

Syria is making real progress on political, humanitarian & security priorities. That is why, on July 8, President Trump informed Congress of his intent to rescind Syria's State Sponsor of Terrorism designation—unlocking trade & investment opportunities to help rebuild Syria. How far Syria has come in such a short time is remarkable. In 1979, it was the first country on the U.S. list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. Today, it is a regional leader in the fight against ISIS, Hizballah, & other terrorist groups.
