Arrived in Ankara for the NATO summit.
Our priorities are to reaffirm our defence commitment for a stronger Europe in a stronger NATO, to ramp-up defence industrial production and to ensure longterm and sustainable support for Ukraine.
Sweden can be proud about its contributions to all those priorities.

Thank you Volodymyr, we will continue to support Ukraine against Russia’s appalling attacks.
I spoke with the @SwedishPM. I am grateful to Ulf for his support and for his clear position on Russia’s war against Ukraine, against our people.
The key issue is, naturally, air defense. We now see that the Russians are putting their eggs in the basket of ballistic missile strikes, combined attacks, and jet-powered “shaheds.” Protection against this is the key to depriving Russia of the ability to drag out the war. Of course, Ulf and I discussed steps that can be taken to enhance our defense capabilities. We are working actively to ensure, on time, all the infrastructure, training and operational deployment of the Swedish Gripen fighter jets. This is a historic strengthening of our combat aviation and major economic cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden in the security sphere. It must be absolutely effective. We are also working within the Ukraine-Sweden Drone Deal format.

Trade between Canada and Sweden has more than doubled in the past five years. This year we entered into negotiations to procure GlobalEye, Saab’s Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft platform — and build it right here in Canada.
This morning, Prime Minister Kristersson and I spoke about the opportunities ahead, and how we can build on that progress.

Today, we just signed the definitive contract for three Swedish A26 submarines for Poland. This is a historic milestone for both Poland and Sweden.
It is a very large and long-term deal. It is worth approximately 50 billion Swedish kronor, and will help make the Polish Navy one of the strongest in all of NATO.
A strong Polish submarine force strengthens security in our shared Baltic Sea, and across NATO as a whole. When Sweden and Poland share the most advanced capabilities in the Baltic Sea, our part of the world becomes safer.
This deal also strengthens the competitiveness of both our countries. The project is expected to create more than 7,000 jobs in Poland.
Hundreds of Polish companies will become new subcontractors to SAAB, which plans to invest up to one hundred million euros in Poland.
And through the joint development of the submarines, our countries’ defence industries will draw closer together.
In Sweden too, this will create a significant number of jobs at the shipyards in Landskrona and Karlskrona, where the submarines will be built.
The first submarine will be delivered in 2031. In the meantime, we will lease a Swedish submarine as a “gap-filler” to the Polish Navy. Training of Polish sailors begins as early as August.
