Starting 8/24, views will count the moment a video begins to play (w/ no minimum watch time) across all formats (VOD, Shorts, & Live). We’re standardizing views to reflect creators’ true exposure across YouTube, making it easier to show their value to brand partners.
This update won't impact creator earnings or YPP eligibility.

We’ve simplified the Shorts look & feel, added 2x speed settings, and refined how you influence your feed. Here’s the breakdown: +
The YouTube Shorts experience is evolving to be more intuitive and to better curate your feed. Here’s what’s coming:
❤️Use a sleek Heart icon to show videos some love.
🎯 Tune your feed with more precise curation tools, like 'Not Interested' as we retire the dislike button.
🧼Strip away distractions with 'Clear Screen' mode so you can focus entirely on the video.
⏩Watch faster with highly requested speed settings so you find your favorite part more quickly.
