When government policies fail, the answer is not to silence the people who point it out. Cut taxes. Bring down energy bills. Control our borders. Fix the problems instead of policing the truth.
🚨 The Govt would rather police what people say than fix its failures. @AllisonPearson takes aim at “misinformation” plans while people struggle with energy bills and illegal migration. “People are going to be persecuted for objecting to the awful consequences of govt policy.”

Why British Comedy Isn't Funny Anymore
The underlying issue is Britain's slavish adherence to the rulings of international bodies like the UN's ICJ. To change this the Civil Service and Ministerial Codes need a rewrite - and the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 should be repealed.

🇬🇧 LIZ TRUSS, JAMES HECKMAN & EYAL HERTZOG: THE NEXT FREE-SPEECH FIGHT MAY BE OVER WHO CONTROLS HISTORY ITSELF
🇬🇧 LIZ TRUSS, JAMES HECKMAN & EYAL HERTZOG: THE NEXT FREE-SPEECH FIGHT MAY BE OVER WHO CONTROLS HISTORY ITSELF We used to worry about governments censoring newspapers. James Heckman thinks AI creates a much stranger problem: a handful of companies could increasingly control the information people use to understand reality. “𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘸𝘰, 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬.” His concern is that AI increasingly becomes the interface between people and history. If the underlying digital record is manipulated, buried or rewritten, most users may never know what disappeared. Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss approaches the same problem from the political side. She argues Britain has accumulated laws, regulators and institutions that increasingly restrict what can be said, while traditional media itself is constrained by commercial and institutional pressure. But Truss rejects the idea that the battle is already lost. “𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦.” That is where Heckman and Eyal Hertzog think technology can change the equation. Their Roundtable project is trying to put professional journalism on-chain, allowing publishers to remain independent while sharing distribution, monetization and infrastructure without a single platform being able to deplatform them or cut off their revenue. The internet decentralized publishing, then somehow rebuilt the gatekeepers. The bet is that the next version can remove them again. @TrussLiz @JamesCHeckm @Eyal

Unfunded tax rises
Interesting that self-asssessed tax receipts are £400 million less than the OBR forecast for this year. A sign that the self-employed are giving up perhaps?
Working people should not be treated as an endless source of cash to fund an ever-expanding welfare state. Reward work. Cut taxes. End the entitlement culture.
🚨 Britain’s welfare state was built on contribution — not unlimited entitlement. 🗣️@timothy_stanley tells @CamillaTominey that proposals to take more people out of paying income tax, while increasing benefits, will fuel the “entitlement mentality”. “It’s verging upon theft.”

This is only unexpected if you are a Keynsian forecaster at the OBR. Some of us knew in 2022 that this is what happens when you put up taxes and don't restraint spending.
We got rid of the Tourist Tax in the Mini-Budget. Which parts of the Mini-Budget do the critics actually object to? Or do they object to the Bank of England announcing QT the day before and breaking the bond market? And are just too cowardly to take them on.

The BBC’s pro-migration, open-borders worldview means it won’t ask the difficult questions about illegal migration. Defund the BBC
🚨 Small-boat migrants are going “from dinghy to HMO in seven weeks.” So why isn’t BBC News — with its £888,000-a-day budget — properly investigating what's happening? Christian Drogan (@watchman_raw), who went undercover to cross the Channel in a small boat, asks @trussliz

The OBR is always over-optimist about socialism
EXCLUSIVE 🗞️- Britain’s economic watchdog, the OBR, is concerned that it may have to revise down the boost to GDP it had attached to Labour’s flagship planning reforms and 1.5 million new homes target. The OBR has invited housing market experts in for meetings in a bid to “understand why the housing market is underperforming” so badly. This will be a blow to the government and signals the state of our housing market amid worsening economic headwinds including inflation and higher mortgage rates which, in their defence, are neither Labour’s fault nor entirely within their control. It also raised questions about the OBR’s initial forecast which experts have told me was optimistic at best. My report @theipaper

We need this in Britain
🚨🇮🇹 Meloni announces a BURQA BAN in schools, plus a LIMIT on the number of foreign students per class!! "The proposed measure will introduce an obligation for the parents of foreign students with serious school-integration problems to learn Italian, and it will introduce a BAN on the burqa and niqab at school. In Italy, nobody, in the name of a real or supposed tradition, can decide that a young woman must hide herself. Equality between men and women is not negotiable. It is not negotiable on our streets and it is not negotiable in our schools." Brava, Giorgia 👏👏👏 Writer: Michael

Appalling the way that Ed Sheeran has been bullied by the mob. It shows the strength, power and reach of the Islamist network. Their demands won't stop at Gaza. If we want to save our countries from Islamism- Britain and the USA - we have to defund these people and build alternative infrastructure that can beat them. Individual bravery is not enough.

Until business leaders and politicians are prepared to something about the broken Bank of England - nothing will change
What the Bank of England announced this week, the more scandalous it is from a taxpayer’s perspective. The BoE announced gilt sales in September 2022, a day before the mini-budget, and began selling that November. Selling into a weak market added pressure to borrowing costs, imposed avoidable losses on taxpayers and almost blew up pension funds (LDI crisis). Now the Bank is stopping sales of £120 billion of its longest-dated gilts, holding them until maturity instead. It has also paused auctions until April 2027 and proposes selling another £146 billion directly to the Treasury at market prices, at roughly £20 billion annually. If better coordination can reduce market pressure and taxpayer costs now, why wasn’t it adopted earlier? The BOE, MSM and politicians threw @trussliz and @kwasi_stackbtc under the bus for the BOE incompetence. The proposed Treasury purchases would take place at market prices, funded through new government borrowing. The debt does not disappear. Nor does this guarantee lower long-term gilt yields. Higher oil prices will push up inflation expectations and anticipated interest rates, which will overwhelm any relief from reduced BoE selling. The Bank can change how gilts reach the market. It cannot remove the inflationary pressure coming from energy. These institutions do not act in the taxpayers interest and have 0 accountability. Buy bitcoin and gold and opt out, fiat is going to 0.

This was an institution set up by Blair/Brown to be exactly this. I don't know how much more blatant it has to get for the right to wake up.
The Bank of England is now simply a branch of the Labour Party and every decision it makes is based on its desire to prop up this pro EU socialist government. Ironically it was the Tories, who were so intent on frustrating Brexit under the then Chancellor, Philip Hammond, who allowed it to become the political partisan entity it now so evidently is.
