JUST IN: Tesla Model Y is the world’s "best-selling" car of 2026 so far
Cybercabs doing heavy testing on the Giga Texas track today, with ~30 Cybercabs doing constant stop-and-go testing along with more lane changes around the large oval. Crews were working on the last segment of the “cobblestone” portion of the inner track for further tests.
I also saw a “Cybercab” logo’d variant next to the iconic “Fork in the Road” display on the S end of the factory, while more employee autonomous Cybercab rides were happening all over the site today.
In a separate post, I’ll share some images of many newly produced Cybercabs at the E Factory exit and in the outbound lot today!
1 week until the big Cybercab Launch Event!

🇪🇺 Europe is outperforming the world.
European markets are reaching record highs.
🔸 European equities have outperformed US equities since 2025.
🔸 STOXX 600 earnings grew 24.1%, their strongest performance since 2022.
🔸 America’s deficit and $40tn debt present Europe with a historic opportunity.
🔸 This is the moment to complete the Single Market and establish permanent common debt.
It would increase euro-denominated debt issuance, foreign investment, bond demand and equity inflows.
Europe must rival US Treasuries and financial markets and this is its greatest opportunity to do so.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Elon Musk the Order of Liberty, the highest Ukrainian state honor that can be bestowed on foreign nationals.
This is deserved and while I disagree with many of Elons statements about 🇺🇦Ukraine, 🇷🇺 Russia and how the war will end, without Starlink Ukraine would not have been able to stop Russia moving forward.

“I agree with Ark Invest and Cathie Wood that autonomy, robotic taxis, makes Tesla about a $5 trillion company.
The Optimus robot, I think, makes Tesla a $25 trillion company.”

VW CEO Blume speaking at a VW Company Meeting on August 26: 1 out of 4 Management Positions will be terminated.
"We measure ourselves against the best locations in Europe with the aim of securing the long-term competitiveness of our Group."
Our goal is to create viable prospects for all locations over the next six to twelve months he said.
However, according to him, labor costs are more than double those at comparable European sites, and other plants have significantly lower factory costs. "This is not an accusation; it is the reality against which we must be measured," said Blume.
They are also taking a close look beyond the production floor including at management and cutting a quarter of those positions, said Group CEO Oliver Blume in Emden.
"If, despite all efforts, it ultimately turns out that re-staffing is not possible, our responsibility does not end there," said Blume.
Blume described the figure of 50,000 jobs frequently cited recently not as a "target figure," but as a "theoretical calculation" derived from costs. He estimates that about half of this reduction would take place in Germany, with the other half occurring globally across some 170 subsidiaries.
What Blume really said between the lines is that the cuts will be much higher than the 50,000 and that despite they try everybody should get ready for plants in Germany to be closed.

GOOD NEWS 🇨🇳 Tesla has debunked a false rumor about its data center in China and reported the matter to the police 🔥
Recently, speculation spread that Tesla had emptied out its Shanghai data center, withdrawn its team, and given up on bringing FSD to China anytime soon 😳
Tesla quickly fired back in a statement to China Newsweek 🤩
"This is false information, and we have reported it to the police. Our data center is operating normally, and recruitment for our assisted driving team is accelerating. All related work is progressing steadily."

Waymo has a huge problem and they know it.
I love how Waymo is constantly throwing shade at Tesla Robotaxi with their comments like “fully autonomous” “truly private” “Safe ride”
@robotaxi literally no mercy take over all their markets and and watch them panic.
I was trying to be a fan of Waymo but these constant digs are ridiculous.

The simple fact that Tesla does not publish videos aimed solely at generating hype around Optimus makes me very confident that the product and service will be outstanding and leave the competition far behind.
People often believe only what they see but one must remember: Tesla doesn't need to show what Optimus is already capable of, as the company does not rely on such gimmicks to excite the public or potential customers. That is called self-confidence.
Protecting intellectual property makes perfect sense; furthermore, Tesla possesses all the necessary financial resources needed to launch it in the millions, and on top of that, the company does not engage in artificial stock price pump.
This is in contrast to what most believe a very bullish signal.

Tesla Optimus vs Figure… it won’t be close.
Anyone doubting
@Tesla_Optimus at this point is a head-scratcher for me personally.
While we have not seen Gen 3 Optimus yet, I truly believe it will be next-level and superior. Here’s why I think Tesla’s humanoid will be better manufactured, more intelligent, and better at tasks.
Figure has not “out-collected” Tesla. People who think Tesla hasn’t been collecting data over the last 5 years are, I’m sorry, delusional. Figure runs these “hype videos” because they need funding—it’s really that simple. Not saying what they’re doing isn’t important; I’m just stating the obvious.
There are many factors to humanoid robots, and Figure is outmatched by Tesla in every single one.
Manufacturing: Figure plans to hit 12,000 a year with their BotQ line and is targeting 100,000 by 2029.
Tesla’s Fremont lines are already underway with an annual capacity of 1M, which is 10x Figure in the near term, and the Giga Texas factory is under construction with an annual production capacity of 10M—that’s 100x Figure.
Compute:
Tesla has Cortex and Cortex 2 with over 500MW of compute. They also work closely with SpaceX, which has the most compute in the world.
Figure has about 5% of Tesla’s Cortex compute and wants to invest $1B in future infrastructure. They also lease compute, which is very expensive; Tesla can do this in-house.
Frontier model:
Tesla will use Grok, now a leading frontier model that could be #
1# by year-end. This is one of the most important aspects—without intelligence, your bot is almost useless. Tesla will also use a neural net with massive training data.
Figure has its own (Helix), but I don’t see it competing (though that could be up for debate).
Supply chain: Do we even need to get into that? Tesla obviously has far more experience than Figure—it’s not even close.
Chips: Figure does not design or ship its own inference chipset. They use NVIDIA RTX-class GPU modules in the torso.
Tesla will use its own chipset (AI5 and beyond) and will fab its own chips with the Terafab. Not sure how you outcompete that. NVIDIA cannot support millions of robots for just Figure.
In conclusion: My prediction is Tesla will mop the floor with companies like Figure, and it won’t be close. There’s plenty of room for other competitors in the humanoid space and maybe they succeed, but Tesla’s scale is in a league of its own.

Friends have told me that FSD is their zen time. They actually enjoy their time in Tesla cabins more than anywhere else.
100 million kilometers have been driven in 🇪🇺 Europe using "FSD Supervised" without any significant accidents.
Yet, transport ministries across Europe, particularly in countries with major automotive industries, refuse to authorize this technology, which evidently prevents accidents, injuries, fatalities, and financial losses.
We are living in an era comparable to the decades when the automotive industry delayed the introduction of seatbelts for the very same reasons it is now stalling the rollout of "FSD Supervised" - Money!
It is solely about making money, the loss of human life is a matter of indifference to them. They don't care.
It is as simple as that.

The VW Group lacks Sufficient Orders
It comes as no surprise that VW’s existing overcapacity is a major problem; any other company would have long since closed plants and laid off staff, but VW is partly a political entity and cannot act as a purely commercial enterprise might wish.
Political influence was a strength during times of growth, but it is now a major weakness during times of contraction.
VW CEO Blume states that a shutdown of the plants in Emden, Hanover, Zwickau, and the Audi site in Neckarsulm has not yet been decided. It remains a last resort, and one that is always the most expensive in the short term.
At the same time, he acknowledged that "we cannot yet present a competitive production plan for the 2030s" for these four sites, meaning VW lacks sufficient orders to keep them running.
This is despite the fact that the Zwickau factory, for instance, is considered a pioneer of electric mobility within Volkswagen; only electric vehicles have been built there since 2020. However, because demand for the models produced there has recently been too low, the workforce has already shrunk from 11,000 to the current 8,000. Furthermore, plans to cut more than 1,000 additional jobs have already been finalized, and one of the two production lines is scheduled to be shut down next year.
I anticipate that all four sites will have to be shut down over the coming years.

It is very clear Tesla wants Robotaxi to be a massive competitor in the Las Vegas ride-share market. We are seeing the framework being set right now to accomplish that goal.

I'd like to go on record with Jason in saying that people are sleeping on what Tesla is about to reveal with Optimus when the time comes
And never forget what Elon said about Optimus - that it will be 80% of Tesla's value
Elon also said, "I think long-term, Optimus has the potential to be north of $10 trillion in revenue, like it's really bananas
So, you can obviously afford a lot of training compute in that situation. In fact, even $500 billion training compute in that situation will be quite a good deal"
