Every major improvement in road safety was met with skepticism at first. Seat belts, airbags, ABS, stability controls etc all became standard because the data showed they saved lives.
If self driving consistently demonstrates the same, it should be evaluated by the same evidence based standard.
The question shouldn’t be whether it is absolutely flawless (no technology is), but whether it saves more lives than the alternative

Anon. I feel like I need to put into perspective what you’re looking at here.
This skyscraper just came screaming back into Earth’s atmosphere at ~26,000 km/h, streaming live video all the way, and soft-landed on the opposite side of the planet with pinpoint accuracy. A drone overhead and naval assets were a stones throw away capturing different angles.
It’s easy to get numb to this because it’s SpaceX. But the level of capability, resourcefulness, and execution they’ve built is honestly hard to wrap your head around.
Way way beyond even the world’s most well resourced nation states. “Great powers” couldn’t do this even if they wanted to.
