I took over the baseapp a few days ago yeah (as well as trading products in Coinbase - the Coinbase app, Advanced trading, etc). I don’t run Base chain. I think that typically CB has been a little bit in an ivory tower and a little bit distant from users, particularly crypto natives. I don’t think I will be able to fix that in a week, or maybe even a month. I can try and capture the voice of ppl onchain more and try and align ppl building things more closely w users. Obviously CB/Base has burned a lot of user goodwill w those users thru some unforced errors, including today. Obviously I could simply not do any of these things and have a nice life instead. Lots of ppl, including og base supporters/trenchers, rly hate base rn - throwing myself into the middle of a hatred pile-on is clearly not the most optimal life choice. I am aware I am setting myself up to be blamed by association. So, I wouldn’t be doing this if I thought it were impossible. I’m going to try and ship stuff that ppl like to use. Maybe ppl will hate what I do w the baseapp too, we will see how it goes.

I decided rather than chilling to instead make my life incredibly stressful and busy so now i am responsible for trading products at Coinbase (CB app / Pro / Baseapp / etc). I cant explain why I did this except I like the opportunity to make something actually good more than I like playing Factorio. So ye maybe I’m an idiot, let’s find out

Yes obviously, that was the plan all along, I just thought it would be a funny way to announce the acquisition I don’t think anyone believes Coinbase really paid $25m for 8 episodes of a defunct podcast but if they do think that’s reasonable then, well, I have a podcast to sell them

There should perhaps be a psychological study on the people that pick out random words from your tweets and make coins from them like quick guys he said toothpaste quick raid raid raid, but then they get annoyed and say how come you aren’t supporting toothpaste token when you previously used the word toothpaste in a sentence

The cool thing about trading metals is u dont need to worry that copper inu is going to steal all the mindshare from copper while ur asleep. They’re not making new commodities on pumpfun every few seconds

Your coins are your coins. Don’t let them be clubbed into dank submission. Be on the watch, there are ways out. There is a light somewhere. It may not be much light but it beats the darkness. not sure if btc continues to provide diminishing returns but it is certainly possible (i choose to believe it wont for now) but alts (on average) will continue to get more difficult and dangerous to trade imo, irreversible trend. (1) massive competition amongst increasingly sophisticated buyers (who simultaneously believe less) (2) primarily traded on perps/with leverage. (3) huge dilution in coins with mkt valuing stuff high by default without justification (4) launch FDVs always capturing 100% of optimism for the asset without respecting price/valuarion (5) too much pre-market price discovery for (4) to be safe the average 2017 buyer buys spot and hodls weeks/months cos they believe, add on the way up, asset was trading at low val early so works out. average 2025 buyer is buying on perps without checking the valuation and sells whenever their PNL goes red or force sells in liquidation. however, it will remain the best place for returns for smart ppl. skill expression and asset selection is much more important. patience much more highly rewarded over being "early" on liquid markets last few years. and then outlier assets will continue to exist, maybe 1 every couple of years, and when they turn up you can turn brain off and 2017 it. imo anyways (hopefully)
