In retrospect the answer to "Do you still think Thanksgiving should be canceled" should be "no," not "I'm a chef, and..." (That's where Hong eventually landed in other hits, but if she loses, this is what clipped her.)

Notable that the most impeachment-focused House Dems, Green and Thanedar, lost primaries this year. Last April, I wrote about Dem voters not being moved by impeachment anymore, and quoted a congressional candidate named… @DonavanMI13

The thing here is that Sanders sincerely believes that the corporate media obsesses over scandal and personal foibles to distract from the issues. He had a messy life before he got elected to anything. In 2016, when reporters dug into his 70s writing and how his son was born out of wedlock he was angry and embarrassed - and neither dented his campaign at all. Populist Bernie-lane candidates often have been robust against scandal stories bc "the media's out to get them because they're fighting the establishment" is a powerful heuristic. On-the-ground reporters like @aseitzwald @andrewperezdc found this after early Platner stories: His voters trusted him and saw a redemption story unfolding. Add to all this that Trump won twice - nobody knows what a killer scandal is anymore. So you can see why Sanders defended Platner to the hilt, until this week (he has not commented yet). That's not different from what Matt is saying, I'm just noting how elemental it is to the Sanders insurgency. Digging into your personal life = you have scared The Establishment.

Awkward moment for an elderly Dem, Rep. John Larson (facing a young challenger). At an ICE presser, he misidentified a black female restaurant owner as Rep. Jahana Hayes, a different black woman. Screenshot from local TV coverage; the woman on the left looks a bit like Hayes, who sometimes wears her hair in cornrows.
