you can prompt this entire facility
one model controls everything: equipment, researchers, and inventory
I spent two weeks living inside it, working on C5R's launch with Astra – here's what it felt like:
There are 158 devices in the facility
Each is reverse engineered & integrated
Liquid handlers, robots, sequencers… even each light
The building is a massive programmable robot
six months ago, we started C5R to build physical spaces where models can do R&D. in twelve weeks, we had our first facility up. since then, we've brought together an incredible team of friends and former colleagues.
a lot of people helped make this happen. thank you.
18 months ago, I went all in on studying biology. I started by building a lab in my apartment (worms!) and later joined one at UCSF.
Meanwhile, models were making advances in the virtual world, but in the lab — they fell short.
We started C5R to fix this. See more below!
In 12 weeks, we built a research facility that is run entirely by AI.
AI designs, executes, and observes experiments end-to-end across biology, chemistry, and materials science.
We’re introducing SciUniverse: a benchmark that measures AI’s ability to do real-world scientific research.
as the value of digital aesthetics drops to zero, I'm excited to spend more time working in the physical world
the demo below was low-effort creative direction paired with frontier models
I'll be sharing my first attempt at high-effort tomorrow morning :)
Building a bio-shield for humanity by ~2030 is one of the great quests (to use @_sholtodouglas' term) of our time. It's one of the biggest, most exciting technological challenges ever
This is why I'm excited about @pilgrimlabs
1/ Biological threats can bring a country to a halt without a single shot being fired. Yet much of our biodefense infrastructure has barely changed in decades, even as America’s institutions produce extraordinary scientific breakthroughs.
I made this with Astra in 24 hours
It did all the motion graphics, rotoscoping, color grading, blender modelling, sound design and mixing
I didn't even need to open davinci
