At about T-8 hours before Starship Flight 13โs third attempt to launch, what are the conditions out at the launch site? What does the weather look like? And, what is it like to be at the launch site and Starbase about 8 or so hours from a launch?
Today I talk about all of this and provide some updates (narration & visuals) on the construction around the launch site too & why much of this is necessary.
Oh, and a reminder too. If you have ever thought about coming out to Starbase and experience something you can literally not do anywhere else in the world (being at an active rocket launch site with a fully stacked rocket just hours before a launch all up close), then you need to plan on doing so sooner than later.
These opportunities may not last forever, and indeed some restrictions continue to be added over time.

It was so fun to take pictures in front of these giant lawn ornaments! Hope they build bathrooms too? ๐๐
This may be the new Rocket Garden at Starbase, with a raised center structure, curving stairs up either side and perhaps space for Booster 12 & ship 20 displays.
Looks to be nearing completion, perhaps by the end of August. If this is the new Rocket Garden, I hope it is open to the public.

Looks like Starship Flight 13 has scrubbed for today due to weather concern issues.
Next opportunity is tomorrow at 5:45 PM again with a 90-minute window and backup on Saturday.

I wanted to share my birth story. I prepared to have a natural birth and took three months of Bradley Method classes. I had to get induced at 38 weeks for gestational hypertension. And despite 18 hours of labor and an hour and a half of pushing, this big baby had a big ol' head so we ended up in a C section. It was a wild ride!

It seems unlikely Starship will launch tmrw as previously announced
I really was hoping for more info as to what led to the last min abort and engine swap.. ๐๐
Standing down from todayโs flight test attempt
For now @SpaceX is targeting Monday, 20 July 5:45 PM with 90 minute window for the re-attempt for Flight 13.
Things can change after they get booster back in Megabay 1 for inspections and engine swaps so plan accordingly!
I am headed back to San Antonio for a few days to check on damages caused by heavy rains and tornadoes that hit the area over the past few days but plan on being back for Flight 13.

15 July 2026 Tesla Lithium Plant VIDEO โฆ my drone flight highlights concerted work to build roadways, both asphalt and concrete around and in much of the operational plant. This is great news as without these, there is a lot of dust and mud that complicates the working environment and possibly some of the machinery and LiOH product. I think having a more finished site will also go a long way to improving the overall appearance!
We can also see the effects of heavy rains that are tormenting the central part of Texas right now, from the Austin and San Antonnio areas south to around the Corpus Christi areas. Both of the large ponds were nearly overflowing and some of the drainage channels were full too.

To be confident of a good flight, 2 Raptors will be removed & replaced. Most probable launch timing is early next week.
Note the asymmetric exhaust and the engine displayโฆ will be interesting to find out what the root cause was.
In any case, this is a great data collection opportunity and confidence builder for how the stage zero systems operate.
