I just vibe-coded a B2B SaaS instead of buying it, because the salesperson insisted on a meeting before sending me the price. Have seen @levelsio write about this and now I experienced it myself. A salesperson reached out to me on LinkedIn about a platform that uses Apple + Google Wallet to boost webinar show-up rates. Super smart. We have 20,000 webinar attendees a year at Obsidian, so I wanted to buy it. I asked for the price. The answer: the fastest way to get one was to book a meeting. I replied "I don't do calls" and asked them to just send the price so I could buy. They totally understood, but I still needed a meeting. So I asked AI to build it into Obsidian's own marketing system (also made by AI and replaced our 4k EUR monthly monday dot com subscription). About an hour later, I had a working prototype in Google Wallet. Apple Wallet is ready too, just waiting on 1–3 days of verification. Price of their software: no idea, but I would have bought it for $100 monthly immediately if I could. Price of ours: 1 hour with AI while watching Toy Story 5 with the kids, plus $99 a year for an Apple Developer account. Google was free. Always envied people who sell b2b saas, but not right now.

In the 1800s, doctors warned against riding trains. The human body, they said, wasn't built to go over 50 km/h. Organs would shake loose. And the cows in the fields would stop producing milk from sheer shock as the trains passed. When GPS entered cars in the early 2000s, people seriously worried we'd all start driving off cliffs or into each other — staring at the GPS instead of the road. (There's a great Office episode where Michael Scott does exactly that — drives straight into a lake because the GPS told him to.) When Y2K hit, people locked themselves in bunkers, convinced planes would fall from the sky, nukes would launch from their silos, and the world's electronics would die. The cause? A bug that never really became anything. 1999 turned into 2000, and life went on. Dario from Anthropic — the boy who cried wolf — is at it again with a fresh attempt at regulatory capture, trying to keep competitors from catching up. He says we need to halt AI development (and let Anthropic decide where the line goes). Otherwise it'll kill us all. Or take our jobs. Or our wives. Maybe. Probably not. I don't think my wife's leaving me for Claude anytime soon. Here's the real problem: Pessimists sound smart. Optimists make money. So I've levered my stock portfolio 20% and I'm betting it'll be fine. 🤑 As the old joke goes: Buy stocks. If the bombs don't fall, you're up. If they do, none of it mattered anyway. 😊

man I thought AI was going to take my job, not my fun time
GPT-5.6 Astra just exploded Runescape bench scores, setting huge records on 10/16 skills. Huge outlier performance.
I just renewed one of my oldest domains. One I will never make a single cent from. 😊 Let me tell you why. About 10 years ago in Denmark, a now-dissolved law firm called "Opus Advokatfirma" started mass-mailing letters to Danish citizens whose IP addresses had allegedly been used to download music and movies via torrents. The lawyer behind it, Niels Dahl-Nielsen — officially employed at a different law firm, but also director of Opus, which mostly seemed to exist to take the bad PR from these letters — argued publicly for reversed burden of proof: "You just need to prove you didn't download anything." The problem is, it's almost impossible to prove a negative. How would I prove I did NOT speed on the highway last Tuesday? They knew that too — and sent the letters out anyway, demanding compensation from thousands of people, hoping enough would pay out of fear rather than fight it. It worked, in the sense that a lot of scared people searched frantically for "Opus Advokatfirma" and "Niels Dahl-Nielsen" trying to figure out what to do. I never liked this business model. In practice, it was intimidation letters dressed up as legal claims — and the people who paid were the ones who got scared and didn't know better. So I got hold of the domain ("Anti-Piracy-Group dot dk") — someone had forgotten to renew it, and a good friend of mine (who can decide for himself if he wants to be named here 😊) bought it and gave it to me. On it, I published a 2,000-word guide on how to respond to Opus's letters — and why you shouldn't just pay. The Google Analytics account is long deleted, but I remember the site had well over 100,000 visitors over the years. A huge number of people copied the response template, sent it in, and never paid the fine. I still feel good about that. Funnily enough, I still rank #1# on Google for "Opus Advokatfirma" — nobody's just searching for it anymore. 😅 I just renewed the domain for another 5 years and put Punktum DK's "VID" (Very Important Domain) protection on it.

We’re ditching at $4,000/month from september 3rd and building our own custom AI tools in our agency. This means I'm loosing my usual todolist within Monday. Instead of picking from the 40,000+ todo apps out there, I built my own in an hour using @Lovable. It does so much less than the todolist apps already available, but it's made for my way of thinking: 1) Custom buckets (Ops, Marketing, Sales, Other) 2) Strict split between "Do Now" and "Ideas for Later" 3) One-click mobile capture shortcut Very important: 4) Plays an Unreal Tournament "M M M M M Monsterkill" sound bite when I complete multiple tasks at once. Navals post 'Return to code' talks about 'personal app stores'. Apps made by one person for one person. love it.

Good news: Airport security is about to get way faster now that the EU can pre-read your (formerly) private chats! 🥳 "Chat Control" just passed on the 6th attempt. After being rejected 5 times, it was sneaked through a snap vote right in the middle of the summer holidays. Brilliant. #Democry# This makes it legal to scan your private messages and photos on WhatsApp, Messenger, and email. All in the name of "safety," of course. Pure government overreach. Personally, I can’t wait for Ursula von der Leyen to scroll through my group chats. Time to crank the spicy memes up to 120%—or just move the wildest groups to IRL meetups behind closed doors. 🤫

New favorite statistic for WW2: While the Germans provided meth amphetamine for Blitzkrieg, the French had a daily quota of 0.75 liters (a regular wine bottle) per soldier per day. No wonder the French lost in six short weeks.
