The first 30 minutes after waking up could shape your entire day.
By the time you’re exhausted at night, your brain may be operating very differently.
Andrew Huberman put it simply: “Don’t say things tired.”
When we’re exhausted, our impulse control gets worse. The message you want to send, the argument you want to have or the decision that suddenly feels urgent can look completely different after some sleep.
That was one of many moments in this conversation that made me realise how much is happening inside our brains and bodies without us really understanding it.
Andrew is a neuroscientist and professor at Stanford, and what I value about speaking to him is that he goes beyond the simple health headlines and explains what is actually happening underneath them.
Cortisol isn’t simply “bad”. Ozempic isn’t only about weight loss. And some of the smallest things we do every day can have a surprisingly large effect on how we sleep, think and feel.
We covered things like:
- The 10 protocols to become the healthiest version of yourself
- When cortisol is actually good for you
- The eye movement trick that could help you fall asleep
- A neuroscientist’s perspective on God and religion
- The simple trick that can lower blood sugar spikes
One thing that really stayed with me was just how adaptable our brains are.
Andrew explained that repeatedly doing things you don’t want to do can physically change an area of the brain associated with tenacity. It made me look differently at the workout I want to skip, the difficult conversation I’m avoiding and those moments where choosing discomfort might actually prepare me for whatever comes next.
That’s why I enjoy conversations with Andrew. You leave with practical things you can use immediately but also ideas that change how you think about your own behaviour.
This conversation definitely did that for me.
I think it might for you too.
Full conversation out now ❤️👊🏾

The single most important skill for any artist:
- Know how you feel, even when everyone around you disagrees
- If the room says A and it sounds like B to you, call it B
- Limiting your choices forces better problem solving (ex: only use red and green)
- Infinite options do not lead to better work, constraints do
- Your job is not to be right for everyone, it is to show how you see it
- Compromising your taste for commercial approval defeats the entire purpose

You're taking the "strangeness of being alive" for granted:
– 80,000 years ago, only ~8,000 humans survived on the planet — you descended from every bottleneck that came before
– 70,000 generations of people had to meet, connect, and have children just for you to exist
– Most people never pause to feel how unlikely (and how fragile) that is
– Don't wait for a near-death experience to notice it
– Next time you walk the dog, stop and feel it, it can be gone tomorrow

Today, I’m honored to join Andrew Huberman for a deep conversation about how children learn and how we can redesign school around what science makes possible.
Just one year ago, I recorded my first podcast with
@patrick_oshag on Invest Like the Best.
Since then, word of mouth and demand for Alpha School have exploded.
We’re now bringing Alpha to 50 communities across the country, each made possible by founding families determined to build a better education for their children.

Them: “what are the published data that BPC works in humans to accelerate healing?”
Me: “basically none”. “Animal data only”.
Them: “where can I get it and how much should I take?”
The point: many people now place word of mouth ahead of other data
Why do you think that is?

7 chapters and nearly 600 pages not counting references. But it’s organized in a way that allows you to navigate to what you’re interested in quickly, or read it front to back.
Why exercise order matters:
– Do power and strength work first, before any cardio or accessory lifts
– Never train to failure before these sets, fatigue makes you practice moving slower
– These movements are the most neurologically demanding in your session
– Coordination at max speed requires a fully fresh nervous system
– If you're feeling fatigued during power work, that's a sign the order is wrong
