Teenagers should lift weights. Old people should lift weights. Even pregnant women should lift weights. Lifting weights is the best exercise to improve the quality of your life.
Every pound you lose takes 4 pounds of pressure off your knees and 6 pounds off your hips. A 5% reduction in body weight can result in a 50% reduction in joint pain. Most people don't have joint issues. They have weight issues.

If you sit all day, do these 3 exercises daily: 1. Asian Squat x 60 seconds Chairs lock your hips and ankles at 90 degrees for eight hours, so your body stops giving you anything deeper. Drop your hips until your hamstrings touch your calves, heels down, chest tall. Elevate your heels or hold a doorframe if you tip back. 2. World's Greatest Stretch x 5 reps per side Hits your hip flexors, hamstrings, T-spine, and glutes in one sequence. Step into a deep lunge, both hands inside your front foot, drop the inside elbow, then rotate that arm to the ceiling and follow it with your eyes. 3. Bar Hangs x 60-120 seconds Sitting compresses your spine and rounds your shoulders forward. Hanging is the only thing that reverses the load. Grab the bar, go completely dead, let your shoulders ride up by your ears. Do not brace. 5 minutes total. Do it for a month and your future self will thank you.

Japan sits at 6% obesity. The US sits at 43%. And the biggest reason is environment. I saw it firsthand traveling to Japan. In 2 weeks there, I rarely saw anyone overweight. Not because they were dieting. Because of how they lived. They walk everywhere. Their version of "fast food" has whole ingredients, high protein, rich in fiber. Meals are built around real food by default, not by discipline. Nobody was counting macros. Nobody had a meal plan app. There is no body positivity. Being slim is the standard and they take it seriously. Meanwhile, the most obese countries on this list share the same pattern: car culture, processed food access, sedentary defaults, and acceptance as part of their culture. You can't move to Japane. But you can build your own environment. Walk more. Eat real food. Make the healthy choice the easy choice.

I wore an Apple Watch, Whoop, Oura, and Fitbit Air at the same time for a week. I expected the data to be similar but did not expect this. Here's what every wearable owner needs to know:

There's a 60 second test that determines how old you are and most people over 40 will fail it. It's called the Old Man Test. 1. Stand barefoot with your shoes and socks in front of you. 2. Lift one foot. 3. Put on a sock, then a shoe, tie it. Foot never touches the ground. 4. Switch sides. Do the same thing. As you age, balance becomes the canary in the coal mine. The good news is you can improve it at any age. - Don't be excessively fat - Build lower body strength using single leg exercises - Walk heel to toe across the kitchen - Stand on one foot while brushing your teeth - Get off the couch without using your hands - Lift weights 3x a week. Try it out and let me know in the comments if you passed or failed.
