I built a Photoshop-like image editor. It’s called Compositor.
I originally built it for myself to get off my Adobe subscription, but decided to release it for free and make it open source. It has all the essential tools I need for compositing, with none of the BS.
I know this workflow is kind of archaic in 2026, but I’m still using it until AI can actually get pixel-perfect on some of the details.
The entire app is 12MB. Photoshop is 6,455MB on my machine.

I used to think the term 'prompt engineer' was stupid. A self-aggrandizing title for a skill that didn’t really exist
But as time has gone on, I'm starting to think prompting will be the only job left. It will be less about 'how' to prompt, but knowing what and why to prompt.

My theory on Google’s strategy:
Gemini doesn’t need to be the best chatbot. It has distribution through Google and Apple.
Demis would rather cure diseases than battle on marginally differentiated chat product.
The public will think Google is asleep at the wheel, but then will come out of left field with a major medical breakthrough in early 2027
Breakthroughs in science will prove to be the better business model. Once a drug is discovered, every dose doesn’t require additional compute.

agreed feels big, i want a new kind of computer
Found a few problems...
- Display connector pins were flipped
- Display connectors need repositioning based on display padding and ribbon cable length
- Button repositioning for casing
Couldn't desolder the 40pin connector (FH12-40S-0.5SH(55)) to flip and run quick test. If anyone has tricks on how to do that pls let me know. I'm still learning.

chat ui works because the idea is still alive - you can push, pull, and refine it.

The idea for this device was directly inspired by the memory maker in Blade Runner 2049. I love its balance between fine and gross control without the confines of a window system

I’ve been exploring new inputs - reimagining what a computer should be for the ai age. Pushing a mouse around a window starts to feel obsolete with vibe-based articulation. A video game controller-like device seems to have a lot of potential to replace a mouse and keyboard. A laid back surface to input voice while also having touch controls, shortcuts, contextual ui, detailed adjustments, touch keyboard, and system navigation
Also could allow the os to become a space you navigate rather than a desktop for files and folders…
