Love it! We were already bringing Omarchy to ARM but this will be an accelerant and quality improvement for sure.
Welcome to the right side of computing history @Qualcomm_Dev.
I've been working this way with my team like this in Slack for some time but this looks so much nicer when you just drop Slack altogether.
Looks like Sheldon is getting yet-another-new-home this weekend.🦞
Exciting update from the fine folks at @Zoom who have given us a very nice update on Linux including dark mode! Any Omarchy zoomers (or boomers, or genxers, or millenials, et al.) should give it a try!
Great to welcome @OrcaRouter as a Distinguished Patron with a $150,000 donation to the Strategic Token Reserves for Omarchy! We're going to put their new OrcaCyber Zero 1.0 model to great use with our security and kernel work 🤘
Our house in Toronto had this fancy glassed wine cellar, but we are not big wine drinkers.
Anyways, it had good climate control so here is my rack cellar.
Sweet mother of acceleration: the latest turbocharging of Omarchy in the lab has now broken the insane 10 second mark!!!
And before you ask, the pursuit of excellence requires no justification! We will keep pushing until stopped by the laws of physics.
🔥Omarchy Mac Users 🔥
The original maintainer didn’t want AI-generated contributions. Fair enough—we respected that boundary, forked the project, and got to work.
The result after roughly 21 hours:
• 29 PRs merged across two repos
• 115 new commits beyond the inherited baseline
• 7 PR authors contributing in parallel
We now have working Apple Video Decoder acceleration for H.264, HEVC and VP9 on M-series Macs running Asahi/Omarchy, plus opt-in H.264 High 10.
The work includes:
• Chrome’s solid-green-video bug fixed
• 10-bit HEVC blank-frame bug fixed
• HEVC tile and wavefront hangs fixed
• H.264 multi-slice firmware hangs fixed
• VP9 state, color-range and submission handling fixed
• Decoder lifecycle races and cross-context reference aliasing fixed
• Multiple memory-safety, error-handling and malformed-stream bugs fixed
• 15 AVD kernel patches
• Automatic installation, recovery and kernel-update rebuilding
• Sanitizer CI, guarded hardware testing and reproducible conformance infrastructure
On real M1 hardware we’re currently bit-exact on:
• HEVC: 144/147 streams
• AVC: 73/135
• VP9: 216/305
• 864 additional generated hardware-frame comparisons
Huge credit to the contributors: davefano, grudev, laihenyi, stefanakerwall, thebytorsnowdog and service-cyber—as well as the upstream and carried work from megi, sofus13, Igor Ryzhkov, Ante042, Aaron/aquarat and the Asahi Linux contributors.
This is what agent-native open-source development can look like: humans set direction and validate reality; agents attack a shared roadmap in parallel; every claim is tied to tests and hardware evidence.
We didn’t argue about whether AI belongs in open source.
We forked it and demonstrated what it can do.
Omarchy is sitting at #17# on DistroWatch.
If it’s made you excited about your computer again, go visit the page and leave a review. Tell people what’s got you hooked.
Let’s get it into the top 10.
Omarchy v4.0.4 has been released!
This is a small release as we continue work on Quattro RS.
This release brings our bespoke kernel to everyone which is tuned to keep the desktop responsive and multitasking smooth, even under heavy load or memory pressure.
It improves gaming compatibility, enables smoother gaming on supported AMD HDMI displays, speeds up common Btrfs file operations, and refines power management. It also fixes everyday hardware frustrations, including missing audio, unresponsive touchpads, display freezes, and slow startup or resume on affected machines.
Please share feedback of experiences with this kernel as we continue to tweak and bring incremental refinements over time.
Did you know that as of Omarchy v4.0.3, you can also keep your T3 Code theme in sync with whatever theme you're rocking?
We will theme them all!
Huge props to @theo for merging the underlying work in @t3dotcodes necessary to make it work insanely fast!
