discord has all the exact same features as slack because it's a psyop to train children for the wagie cagie from a young age
really insane how the whole world starts to look like a beautiful fractal of tractable problems when you do 15 minutes of cardio and eat some protein
We're going to post so much. You're going to get tired of posting. You’re going to say, "Please, I have a headache. Please, don't post so much. This is getting terrible." And I'm going to say, "No, we have to make posting great again." You're gonna say, "Please." I said, "Nope, nope. We're gonna keep posting."

personal news: I'm leaving posting from the sidelines to post from the nucleus the timeline is where the future gets funded, built, and believed. with @eriktorenberg and the @a16z new media team, I'll be helping some of the world's most important and ambitious founders win it

As a kid flipping through encyclopedias I remember spending extra time marveling at timelines for future tech. Returning to the moon, household humanoid robots, etc. Not one of them predicted a cheap, smarter-than-human oracle. How blessed we are

Me and my day 1 finalizing the Japan trip itinerary
it takes longer to coalpost than to rip a banger. lesson in that
Somewhere on this app is the Van Gogh of posting. A landshark/broduct manager level talent who never blew up, just posting bangers into the void. How do we find him?
you either die an sf guy or live long enough to see yourself become a Japan guy
Oh you like executing? Yeah I’m more of an insight guy. I’m into pondering, mulling, deliberating. I guess I’ve always been drawn to yearning for what I fear I might never know. Doing is okay though.

can’t wait to tell my kids about how zoox vs waymo was a regular topic of conversation at the dawn of the singularity
I find “high APM, low ego” to be one of the most useful heuristics for decisionmaking in a high functioning org, and I am always impressed when those around me exhibit speed and humility. It’s something of a mantra at New Media. An idea I’ve been playing with is that humility is the interpersonal manifestation of speed. If you can give feedback to anyone respectfully and implement feedback from anyone gracefully, you just move way faster and skip a lot of pain.

for anyone who's curious, this is the working culture at new media high apm, low ego. glass vs. rubber balls. feedback as a gift, etc. was a lot of fun to write this with the team

I started working for Erik at Turpentine in 2023 as a lonely, unsure, curious college student. I spent all day on Twitter and daydreamed about dropping out to move to SF because that's what cool smart people on Twitter did. I avidly listened to Turpentine podcasts like Moment of Zen (rip) and Upstream, and working on those podcasts felt like the best way to get closer to the illustrious world of tech Twitter I so longed to be a part of. 18 months later Turpentine was acquired by a16z. Erik asked me if I wanted to be an intern on the New Media team. I called my parents, texted my friends, the whole shabang. It was awesome. Over the summer I turned my years of a crippling addiction to lurking on X into a full time job leading socials here. This is the greatest first real job I could ever imagine. Erik and the team (@liangsays @humford @richardzphotoz @theojaffee to name a few on a long, long list) have been life changing mentors and friends. I have grown more in the past year than I can remember growing in a single year. I did eventually finish college online, but I took a leave of absence for a semester to LARP as a college dropout in SF. Thank you Erik for believing in me, changing my life, and enabling me to accomplish things I'd never imagined doing. If you: - Are young, hungry, humble, and online - Move quickly - Want a path into venture/tech media Apply!

This long article on country people vs AI data centers is one of the best I have read recently. The WSJ has good reporters (and especially good financial ones).
