STARLINK: SpaceX plans to build its terrestrial cellular network by placing small cellular radios, femtocells, inside or next to existing Starlink dishes on a limited number of rooftops, Gateways, and Tesla Superchargers. Basically turning a subset of its existing Starlink installations into a distributed small-cell network that phones can use directly. Here is how it works: - Hardware: SpaceX will add a small cellular radio unit to some existing dishes. The unit uses the terrestrial spectrum SpaceX is acquiring from EchoStar (about 65 MHz). - Coverage: These units act as low-power cell sites. A regular phone in the area connects over the air to the nearest rooftop radio the same way it connects to a normal cell tower today. No special hardware on the phone is needed. - Density: SpaceX only needs enough host sites to create usable coverage in a given area. It eliminates the need to lease traditional macro towers. - Backhaul: The same Starlink satellite link that already serves the dish can carry the cellular traffic back to the core network, or local fiber can be used where available. - Cost: The approach avoids the high cost and slow permitting of conventional cell towers. NEURALINK received U.S. Patent No. 12,690,877 B2 on July 28th for automatic craniotomy and bonework via milling, force sensing, and impedance sensing. The system uses a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machine with a high-speed spindle (typically 60,000+ rpm) and an end mill. A bio-impedance circuit sends current through the end mill to a return contact on the patient. Impedance drops as the tool advances through denser bone layers into softer dura. An axial force sensor (shear beam load cell) simultaneously measures resistance. A drop to 80–90% of the maximum force recorded during the cut signals breakthrough of the inner cortical table. The controller compares live sensor data against stored values (from prior scans, historical data, or real-time maxima) and stops or retracts the end mill when either signal indicates the desired depth. Pre-operative CT scans and an optical assembly assist positioning and depth planning. Inventors are John M. Harris, Dalton James Colen, Graydon J. Wilson, and Jamie N. Delton. TESLA: U.S. District Judge Christopher R. Wolfe of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Waco Division granted Tesla a Temporary Restraining Order and Writ of Replevin in its dispute with Angstrom Automotive (Case No. 6:26-cv-00477). The order authorizes Tesla to enter the supplier’s facility in Troy, Texas, and retrieve its own Cybertruck tooling and related equipment that Angstrom had been withholding. Tesla had sued after Angstrom announced plans to close the plant and refused to release the tooling unless Tesla paid an additional $250,000 per week. Tesla argued the equipment belonged to it and that continued withholding risked disrupting Cybertruck production. Angstrom’s Texas affiliate later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. SPACEX: According to local reports, the final stages of a deal are in place for SpaceX to build the new spaceport on Pecan Island in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, and Governor Jeff Landry is expected to make an announcement this month. SpaceX would gain control of the land through a coastal lawsuit settlement in which ExxonMobil turns over property it has owned since the 1950s. Included in the deal are coastal restoration provisions. The sparsely populated site offers Gulf and Intracoastal Waterway access for barges, a midpoint location between Starbase and the Florida Space Coast, and natural gas supplies. Only a fraction of the over 130k acers would be used for actual launch infrastructure, with the rest as a buffer. If this is true, the project will undoubtedly create thousands of jobs. Louisiana has passed liability protections for aerospace operations, and the FAA recently proposed waiving more than a dozen environmental laws for launch licenses. The location will support orbital launches and is the perfect spot for SpaceX to launch Starmind AI Datacenters to sun-synch orbit.

Tesla said at the inaugural Multi-Modal eMobility Summit at Grosse Ile Municipal Airport that the company plans to bring Megacharging for Semi to Metro Detroit. Tesla has begun site surveys and is working with DTE on potential locations, though no specific site has been selected yet.

Starlink Mobile is providing free connectivity to @MASORANGE_ES and @movistar_es customers in regions affected by the wildfires near Madrid. Families, communities and businesses with compatible LTE smartphones can now stay connected through SMS even if terrestrial networks are not available and customer phones will automatically connect to Starlink Mobile. Coverage will work best with a clear view of the sky.

It’s always great news when politicians actually research the economics and make a smart decision. Just ask any of the 10,000 rural Louisiana residents who will soon have broadband internet at home for the first time!

People see grants like this and STILL get upset. Carpeting the planet with fiber or copper isn't a reasonable ask, and people in rural areas shouldn't be forced to choose between prohibitive cost or a connection so slow as to block them from the sum of human knowledge.
