Despite deleting this page from their website, the @ymca, which receives $600 million in taxpayer funding annually, has national guidance for LGBTQ+ inclusion at summer camps nationwide. They encourage all of their camps to always use gender neutral pronouns for parents and campers, allow trans-identified staff to use bathrooms and sleeping cabins in accordance with their gender identity over biology, and to celebrate Pride Month at camp with kids.

Was today years old when I learned that summer camps nationwide have been bunking boys with girls at overnight camp… including male counselors identifying as women sleeping in the same cabin as your young daughter. 🤯 As a summer camp kid myself dreaming of sending my daughter to camp someday, this is DEVASTATING, but hugely important for us to talk about to empower parents against this discrimination from the YMCA.
