Our company was founded about one year ago. Our mission is to create abundant manufacturing capacity in America. We are a modern metals supplier, where we will have 100,000+ customers at scale, who need metal faster and cheaper. Metals suppliers are a great catalyst to American building if done right. Because you can affect everyone that builds. Not just aluminum... but steel, nickel, bronze, copper, stainless, titanium, and beyond. We have had a direct effect to more rocket launches, construction projects, parts, cars, railroad, and a completely diversified and abundant supply chain. We also want to inspire the next generation of builders to prove that manufacturing is fruitful, cool, and fulfilling.

Our two biggest inspirations for our ecommerce experience are McMaster Carr and Uber. McMaster is intuitive (buy parts online), but I'm going to explain why Uber... We have a strong brand at Nox, which drives lots of people to test us out. But once people are quoting us, we aren't special. Just another browser tab. We get that we aren't the only option to buy aluminum online. And we expect buyers to quote several sources. Like checking both Uber and Lyft. So how does this impact strategy? @andrewgordonmac at Uber put this well in his recent 20vc pod with @HarryStebbings- Every dollar of potential spend at Uber is rigorously justified against putting it back into pricing (reducing what customers are quoted and pay for rides). And pricing usually wins. While McMaster inspired our UI. Uber informs our strategy around pricing. Every efficiency that we gain via our propriety factory operating system is directly transferred into more aggressive pricing. This obsession with customer outcomes on price, along with pixel-level craftsmanship on the online quoting flow, having resulted in a 74% WoW growth in online orders since early July.

Your code should be so dangerous that you need safety glasses on.
Good morning, America. It’s a great day to cut some metal. 🤝🇺🇸
never thought id be addicted to insta buy button internal e-commerce growth stats but here I am
Agreed.
If reindustrialization were a book, we'd still be at the first sentence on the first page. Get after it.
Just so 100M+ hard-working and politically isolated Americans know, there’s an entire ecosystem of VCs and builders who respect, prefer, and favor flyover America (we’re proud to call you fellow countrymen). We’re not ivory tower tech elitists confined to the limited and narrow opinions of several metropolitan bubbles. Below are patriots who proudly support and respect you, your rights, your beliefs, and your lifestyles. I’m hoping each of these people name ten others they know who champion similar characteristics. Let’s highlight the “other” (this) side so flyover America knows everyone who’s got their back. @JoshuaSteinman @jakobdiepen @SantiagoPliego @2112Power @IanRountree @davidu @FilArons @aphysicist @austinbishop @gregorymbernn @trevorcapozza @benkohlmann @ADoricko @zanehengsperger @vc @KennethCassel @codyaims @NatHalberstadt @GaruthAcharya

the first thing a humanoid should be able to build is another humanoid just like how ai builds ai first
191 jets last year and every single one started with metal.
good point on xometry that 95% of people still miss
look at xometry. finding the right shop is such a pain that buyers pay them almost a billion a year to do it instead. so apparently the interface is a product. for years i sold this kind of interface to shops moving to the on-demand, pay-upfront model. but the hard slice of the mfg puzzle (precision actuators, reducers, encoders) is still missing. no catalog, no buy now button, no lead time, no domestic option. the fortresses like anduril and tesla build it themselves. its rational when the middle is empty. but it does not close the gap. it leaves a hole in what should become a dense supply chain. so the next three-person team still starts on components from china anyway. or must raise vc money to build another vertical fortress. where does this leave us?

in the last year i have put ~10 VCs on forklifts in fact, its hard to get them off
99% of “hard tech” VCs couldn’t operate a forklift but somehow became defense industrialists overnight
Some people were clowning on Zane when he first posted this saw Today he has a killer team, 70k+ sq ft factory, and growing like crazy Lots of power in earnestly trying something, not being afraid to start small, and ignoring haters
