Tonight, I met a beautiful couple at a bar. The chemistry between them was so obvious that you could feel it from across the room. They laughed and talked all night, and at one point, they even got up and started dancing in the middle of the bar.
As we talked, they told me they had only met about a month and a half ago, but they seemed like they had known each other for years.
Then came an interesting moment…
The woman went to the bathroom, and her boyfriend leaned toward me and started talking about her like she was the most special woman in the world. He kept saying, “I love her so much… she’s completely different from everyone else.”
And I could only think one thing:
I wish everyone spoke about their partner this beautifully, especially when they weren’t there to hear it. ❤️
For the girls who felt bad for inanimate objects, who started worrying about death at the age of 8, who would be pacing the kitchen having anxiety attacks before school, and who always felt like everyone else was in on a joke that they weren't a part of
“We don’t need feminism”…..At school, my 14-year-old niece was told by a boy classmate, "Your body, my choice." Then he pushed her against the wall and tried to kiss her.
She slapped him to push him away. Guess what? The school didn't say anything to the boy, but they suspended my niece. They didn't even inform his parents.
Is this a safe space? Black OBGYN here and today a white patient told me she actively sought me out because she knew as a black woman I’m use to not being listened to and knew I would take the time to hear her. Idk how to feel like now - like honored or annoyed 🤷🏾♀️
